I just purchased a 2020 Tundra, is anyone else having trouble with the WiFi randomly stop working? I have to turn the truck off and back on the it usually works after that.

The only issue I have is occasionally Apple CarPlay will not work. It does not always fix it to turn the truck off and on.

Yes, same issue here with Android Auto. Drops the connection and/or loses GPS signal.
I don't even bother plugging the phone in anymore and have zero faith that Toyota will be able to fix it if I take it to the dealer for warranty repair/diagnostics.

I think all the dealer would do is check for updates. Said there was on Nov 19.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I have not used the built in Wifi. I have unlimited data on my phone so I just use it as a hotspot when I need internet on the road. If you're talking about Apple Car Play (APC) that is a different story.

Ironically... I was just in my truck at lunchtime and on a call with my wife.
The phone automatically connects to the wifi and I had wifi calling enabled on my phone.

In the middle of my call... it drops the call.
I couldn't get through again until I turned off the wifi calling feature on my phone. Once it grabbed a 4g tower I could continue my phone call.

Something is screwed up with the onboard wifi.

Funny thing is... we have ATT as our cell provider... and the truck wifi is also through ATT. So there are no signal/reception related reasons for calls/wifi to drop or disconnect unless there is a problem with the truck/software/hardware itself.

I absolutely will NOT be subscribing to this service beyond the trial (and fail) period.

Im sure Toyota people monitor this forum.
Toyota folks... are you listening ???

Yeah, I don’t think I will mess with the Wi-Fi in the truck either. As far as Apple CarPlay, probably hard to prove is it the truck, the cable, or the phone… After it connects I have not had a problem of dropping out, so I am not too worried about it

My trial period was about to expire and roll into the "pay for service" period.
I opted to cancel the service last week.

It sucked so horribly bad... I wasnt even using it when it was free. Why would I opt to pay for it ???

Honestly I dont even use the android auto.
Tried it a few times with the phone navigation and every time...without fail... it would lose satellites and stop navigating.

The only way my phone navigates properly is when I keep it disconnected from the radio.

The only thing that has worked properly is the bluetooth connection for phone calls and playing music stored on my phone.

And this is a $50k pickup truck. How fucking pathetic.

Sounds like the new infotainment system issues is up there with Ram and Ford or surpassing these days.

Has anyone received a fix for the WiFi randomly stopping working? My 2021 is doing this and the dealer and Toyota corporate is claiming they can’t duplicate my concerns.

Toyota will not fix this issue. Both of my Toyota’s do this, but because it’s intermittent Toyota would rather avoid this issue then try to fix it. I refuse to believe out of everyone working at Toyota no one pays for the wifi service and doesn’t have issues with it. There turning a blind eye to this issue

I think that the WIFI issues are very low on the list of what Toyota needs to update. The WIFI is most likely a feature that was added by marketing since these trucks needed a cellular connection for the app to connect to the truck. It was most likely an afterthought which is why it does not work to well.

Hey Guys! I just activated the trial period for the Wi-Fi since we will be taking a long road trip with the kids. I noticed that the Wi-Fi seems to default to being off every time I start the truck. Also due the nanny VIM systems, I have to be stopped in order to turn it on. Is this normal behavior? Is there a way to change the default to automatically turn on Wi-Fi when the truck is started? BTW, I am considering a FRAC harness to defeat the VIM and get a front camera input.

As a follow up, I updated the audio software to 1047 and my issue has been resolved.

in my case the wifi would default on. Also I could not turn on or off the wifi while moving due to the systems.

in my case the wifi would quit receiving or distributing signal to use systems and rebooting it would fix it. But I would have to stop, turn off and turn on. Or sometimes stop turn off turn on, restart truck turn off turn on.

because it was a intermittent issue dealerships were of no help and I canceled service.

Did anyone get a fix on this? I just got a 2020 and chunked down 200 for a year internet subscription and it’s nearly useless because of this.

None that I know of. And it’s across the Toyota fleet from I can tell. 2 highlanders, a 4Runner my tundra all suffer from the same issue. That’s just in my family. We have all decided it’s not worth it to have on.

currently looking at other options to get it in my truck though. None will be cheap.
