Recesntly purchased a 2020 Toyota tundra SR five. At approx 2,00” Miles during a coldstart the ABS traction control and check engine light came on and started running very rough… Fast forward to this morning with currently 3,345 miles the same thing happened. The codes states cylinder 5 miss fires, and seemed to he a problem with the adaptive cruise control some thing to do with the towing. I’ve attached a bunch of pictures of the suggestions would help and I’m curious if any one else has rented a similar problems with a 2020 tundra. My 2 cents is the new tech package could have something to do with this problem but. Im by far a professional mechanic. Im a new member here so sorry if anything about this post is nit correct, just a newbie looking for some advice from the best Tundra community on the planet...

Bring that thing back to the dealer.Hand them the keys and tell them not to call you until it’s fixed.

Dip shits could care less. They said we have to run our own tests on the vehicle and will let you know what we find. Either way nit leaving without some answers and a fixed car. Really seems to be to do with the new tech package. But the cylinder 5 miss-fire has me stumped other than a faulty wire or coil pack...

Dip shits could not care less about what? It sound like they are examining your truck and trying to diagnose the problem? What more do you want?

Based on pictures its a precollision system issue. The will need to adjust & recalibrate sensors. There are alot of posts on here about Toyotas Safety Sense and pre collision issues. I had them as well but mine never threw a check engine light. Id also recommend calling Toyota corporate and filing a complaint. Good Luck!

If they are not showing concern and just going through the motions, find a new dealer. Not all dealers are the same.

I echo the sentiments above. Take it back to the dealer. Demand a replacement vehicle in the meantime.

I'm not understanding either. Sounds like OP Is frustrated that they want to run their own tests and not just start changing things based on what appears to be his diagnosis.

I work at an International truck dealer and we get the same thing sometimes. People come in telling us what they think is wrong and what it fixed. Regardless of what they say we always have to follow International's warranty procedure guide for diagnosing if we want to get anything covered under warranty. These days snapshots of everything have to be sent off to corporate for warranty approval consideration before we change a thing. PITA.

Took to dealer and because of a Sunday did not have their lead Tech on duty. They where able to find code, but could not figure out how and why it tripped the codes. Will update on what they find. Thanks for input

That’s normal no Sunday techs. Techs unusually gone by 1:00 on Saturday around here and none work Sunday’s.

But the same problem happened approx 3 weeks of having a vehicle, code went away and they were not able to do anything. Also, the same thing happened minus the miss fire to my wife's 2019 4 runners. It seems to be a larger problem to do with their new tech package. But again I am on here looking to see if anyone had the miss fire problem, will let everyone know exactly what they find here in the next hand full of days when they get to the bottom of it. For not I will drive a Corolla

Well if it keeps happening then I am guessing they will owe you a new truck

    Any mods to it?

I have added a speaker's system and interior led lights that are blue that shine under the seats. When they did the stereo the 2020 patch was not available at the time. I also spoke to the company and asked if they have ever seen any problems arise like this and they have not

The dealer has to use there diagnostics system(techstream) so they can get paid for warranty repairs. If the car is not currently running bad and everything is working when you brought in the vehicle, its hard for them to diagnose something faulty when it is working correctly. They have to be able to duplicate the issue to correct it.

also do not clear faults in the vehicle befor you bring it in(i dont know if you did or not)

My 2020 SR5 did the exact same thing yesterday except my code was po302. Dealer says it has to happen in the shop or they have no idea how to fix it.

That’s pretty much the same with all dealers and all manufacturers .

I have the 2020 tundra sr5 that did the same thing. I gave them a bad survey response and Toyota Customer service called back very concerned. They will re examine the truck next week. If this happens a third time I'm selling it. Did you ever find out what the problem was?

One of the reasons regardless of the apparent win on depreciation I do not buy used vehicles.
