So far my truck has exceeded my expectations. The ride is great. The cabin is super quite with the exception of the exhaust growl, which I wasn't expecting but I really like. The handling is great, but I think a rear sway bar will make it greater. The seats are comfortable. The truck is a lot easier to get in and out of compared to my Taco. Room, the crewmax has probably the most room in any truck. The stereo system actually sounds better than what I have heard out of comparable makes. The stock Duratracs are a plus. I really am starting to enjoy the auto high beams along with the android auto. All in all, Toyota has really done a good job on the Tundra platform.

What stereo does the 2020 have? Thats the only complaint I have about my 2019.

Toyota usually does an excellent job with the first and last iteration of a given model, and it sounds like they did it again with the 2nd generation Tundra.

They updated it with a larger screen, removed the CD player and did who knows what to the internals. I haven't heard any earlier model factory stereo's to compare but compared to factory stock "Non Bose" GM's stereo's it sounds better IMO.

If you wanna be technical, you could call it a 2.5 GEN. It is not a true third GEN. Same engine, frame etc. It’s more of a second GEN refreshed twice.

Nothing ground breaking here. Same truck since 6 years ago, maybe even 13. Glad you're enjoying it though!

We need more info on the new stuff. I’m thinking about trading my truck for a 2020. How’s apple CarPlay? Got pics of new radio screen? Did they get rid of the fender antenna? Hows the smart key work?

I still have to read the owners manual, got my 2020 yesterday. When I was at home trying to figure out what the key fob can do, I held down the lock button and the engine started. I heard remote start was only available via an app but it started with the fob. Also the android auto works great. The screen is much better than the pioneer unit I put in my 4runner with android auto. I like the stereo also. It could have more bass but I don't think it's terrible.

I found that out a month or so after buying my 2012. I can’t believe it. I guess they figured my 2wd wasn’t going to be offroad in a dusty environment.

I think they stopped serviceable U joints on the 4x4s after 17? I’m glad mine are able to be greased. It’s something that I like to do. I liked my 64 Oldsmobile that had ball joints with zerks as well as the driveshaft U joints. I can only assume they figured people would forget to do it as they don’t last as long as a sealed unit if you don’t take care of them.

Here’s the screen on the 2020. I think it makes a big difference, and I love the Car Play. I had my 2019 retrofitted with a Car Play module and the resolution was crap. The screen was not crisp at all.

Here’s the 2019 with the Car Play after market module. Might be hard to tell in the photos, but the resolution on the screen is not good. The vendor claimed it was the screen, not the module. I made them remove it and give me my money back.

I just got out of the seat of a 2020. The screen size is definitely noticable along with the resolution. It's a little faster too but not super snappy like a modern smartphone. I hope that the 2020 JBL is improved. Its usually not the speakers but the processors, so hopefully the 2020 has this improved.

It's a nice truck, much better than my old '17 inside. Shark fin is a nice touch, clean front fender.

Who cares if it's a 2nd, 2.5, or 3rd gen. If you whine about that you look like a loser whose full of COPE. Sorry, this truly not meant to offend anybody. I'm just a noob around here.

Congratulations on the new ride! Funny, I said most of the same about my truck to my dad the other day, and mine is a 2017! These trucks are solid and timeless. Get a rear TRD sway bar and beef up the front sway to a Sequoia version - huge difference. Trust me.

Carplay looks very nice but the fit looks worse than aftermarket with the overlap of the gray trim. Guess for a band aid until the new model comes out it works.

Hanve you setup the connected services with the Toyota app? I have all of it working except remote start. It sends the command and vehicle powers up but does not start and then kicks back a message to make sure all preconditions are met. Yet they are, doors locked, no keys in the vehicle, no where near it, hood closed, windows up, fuel tank just about full and so on. Had an open case for weeks now and they can't seem to figure it out. Anyone with a 2020 have the remote start working?

Do you prefer sealed joints. Some say they are stronger because they don’t have the hole tapped for the fitting. I guess for my use I feel it will probably last longer than a sealed unit. I also wish the ball joints and control arm bushings were grease-able.

These are great trucks. Sounds like you made the right move from the Tacoma (which are bad ass trucks).
I had a CM and the interior is just huge. Only bigger cabs are the F150 CC and Ram 3500 MegaCab by one square inch.
Did you have a lift installed or did the duratracs come factory? If so, bad ass.

That’s exactly why Sean. The crosses are stronger in the joint, and some people over grease joints, which can be just as bad.

I’m sure for my typical truck uses’, serviceable wil be fine. But I haven’t heard of over greasing being a bad thing. What happens if too much grease is applied? I always grease until I see some come out from under the caps. Usually between three and five pumps. I guess I just figure that it will only hold so much and the excess will just come out.

I don't guess I have heard of over greasing joints either, especially universal joints. I understand why you wouldn't over grease a ball joint or something with a rubber boot though. I grease my u joints until the grease starts squeezing out clean.

Yes, my remote start works as it should. With the doors closed, select lock on the fob three times and hold it down on the third till it stars. It’s slower than other systems I’ve used, but it works. Did you try the app? My tundra will start via the app too. WiFi hotspot works well too. It’s been great since my phone died yesterday, can do basically everything via WiFi.
