So, back last year, several months ago, my wife and I traded her 2012 Highlander in on a new 2020 Highlander. For the most part we love the vehicle. Not the biggest fan of the shift logic, but it's not terrible.

HOWEVER....I've had a somewhat scary experience twice where, upon 'vigorous acceleration', the vehicle will sort of stumble. For example, on a back road (two lane highway) yesterday, wife and I were going to pass a vehicle going 40 in a 55. Stomped on the gas, and about halfway into the passing zone, the vehicle just sort of....refused to accelerate for a second or so. It's somewhat akin to what my Tundra might do if I stomp on the gas on gravel and it suddenly hooks up to pavement.

Except this was on a clear day, mid 50's outside, no snow/rain/traction issues anywhere.

Anyone else heard of or experienced this? The small amount of research I've done has uncovered some 'Highlander shift flare' TSB; and I've also seen reports of transaxle replacements.

Did you find any answers on this? We're thinking about a hybrid Highlander.
