After many years of driving Land Cruiser’s, I decided to try a Tundra! My last Cruiser was a 2013 with a fair bit of upgrades from stock.
With the Tundra I’ve decided to try and keep it simple for now. So far it has BP-51 suspension, Slee Sliders, 35x12.50x17 Ridge Grapplers, Icon Wheels and an ATC topper. The wheels I’ve decided to change to Evo Corse. Side note, anyone in Colorado looking for Icon wheels let me know.
I only had 200 miles on it when I added everything, it was fun having it new and modified!

The next items will be an air compressor, power in the bed, front bumper, winch and down the road rear locker.

Here are a couple pictures, one with my trailer that I’ve been building.

Looks Great. Welcome from PA. Did you get rid of your land cruiser or keep it?

I sold it, 42 years of having Land Cruisers in our family. Now none...

After crawling around the Tundra, I was surprised how different the build quality is between it and the Land Cruiser. The Cruiser is definitely built more complex and probably more stout. Being built for a global market may have something to do with it?

Looks great! How do you like the BP 51's? Any rubbing with your tires?

This is the second truck I've had with BP 51's, loved them on the Land Cruiser, haven't really done much in regards to tuning with these on the Tundra, yet. Rides good, better than stock all 250 miles I had on the stock set up! :D

The only rubbing is while rolling backwards on the stock front bumper, very minimally. This will be corrected when an aftermarket bumper get's fitted.

    Nice truck!

What offset are you running that you have no rubbing?

I’m ordering a BP51 setup with new wheels and rubber for my 13 DC.

The Icon wheels are 25mm offset. They rub on the stock front bumper just a little.

Odd question: What is the total height of your truck? From the top of the cab down. Ive had two modified Tacomas, and I have a modified 4Runner with a FrontRunner rack, but Im wondering if the Tundra will fit through a standard garage door after a lift and tires.

Nice build so far. Last Landcruiser for me was a 1989 FJ62. Sold it 5 years ago. Wish I could afford a new one.

Love the XV2, built for war and should last a lifetime. Hope you do a build thread on that also if you are doing mods to it.

The tallest part on the truck is the shark fin antenna and it measures pretty close to 82 inches. Should fit in a 7 foot garage door.

Went to Moab last week for some wheeling. First trails for my tundra, it did better than I thought it would. I haven’t added skid plates yet and with it having stock bumpers I took it a little easy and just barely touched any of the underside.
One thing I was surprised by while running on some of the sand wash higher speed stuff, was how much the bed and topper shook. Ended up bending the topper hold down brackets and damaging the plastic bed caps. Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket bed stiffeners?

You're truck is awesome! I love that color. Everything on your truck is tastefully done and proportional. :)

As to bed stiffeners @sdhq_offroad and Victory 4x4 ( @brimy311 ) sell them.

Can you take a pic of how it bent the tie downs and plastic caps? Really interested to see what happened there as that's pretty rare - especially without weight on the roof.

I will get some posted tomorrow. Yeah, I was surprised it wiggled that much, enough that it touched the cab as well.

Sick truck, I'm envious of those tires youve got, theyre meaty. Is that also your FJ40 in your avatar?

My guess is the brackets came loose then everything started shaking, and tore up the bed caps. In hind sight, I should have checked the topper brackets after a few months of owning it. I have bought additional brackets, I will have 6 holding it down. We’ll see if that works!

Yes, that looks a lot like loose brackets, specifically the rear ones. I had to tighten mine too.

I wasn’t happy with the stance of the Icon wheels or the fatness of the tires so I decided to change wheels.

I ran Evo Corse wheels on my last 200 series Land Cruiser and really liked them, so thought I’d try again. They really fit well, and actually the truck rides better, steers better and the total width was decreased by almost 2 inches.D2FF0142-9C08-4784-A43B-48FC1FC0D309.jpg
