Whew!!! well, that was a trip!!

First and foremost thank you to @osidepunker for putting the trip together and planning routes.

Thanks to everyone who came out it was a blast, and Saturday night dinner was amazing!!

    @n2deep @831Tun @Vizsla @GodlessPro @joonbug @Spolar @Sunnier @Pinay @Stewie @Challenger1 @roypark @djkaosone

So let's start with the trip report now...

Wednesday night was a rainy cold socal night with me packing all this crap into my truck and cooler!

Thursday started off with a bang, literally.

After @Sunnier met me at my house, she and I and @Stewie headed north to rendezvous with @osidepunker

well within 15 minutes of my house, Sunny was rear-ended by an idiot not paying attention, and at the exact same time Matt's power steering resi hose got a cut from the PS pump pulley and he lost partial PS and had to go to his friend's shop to get it repaired. The good news is no major damage for sunny so we kept going!

So two breaks before we even hit the trail... hope this isnt a sign of things to come....hint hint it is...

after meeting up with Alex, and my buddy dave and his Brother in law.. we got on the road to meet the rest of the crew who would be waiting for us near the first trail head..

    The meeting of the groups..

so not an hour into the first trail we had two minor and one major issue...

my wood came loose and flew everywhere snapping off my air chuck from my air tank, and Roy bent a rim. Then while i was fixing my wood pile in the bed, apparently Alex was hitting some very large whoops and a huge one ended up having him lawn dart the truck into a hill causing his front air bags to go off.. im quoting Joon who was in the truck with him .. "Alex took some huge whoops at around 70mph. They just got bigger and bigger. He couldn't even slow down. Then we got to one really big fucker and kinda launched us into the next really big fucker. And pop. I looked over at Alex and even with the bags covering our faces, he was still steering like he could see the road."

after that we took a break at some dunes..

So now that day 1 was over time to settle in to camp on a dry lake bed, which ended up being a very cold night, by morning all of our on board water systems had broken water nozzles due to the water freezing.

during our stay at camp Roy realized his front diff was making noise thus forcing him to run the rest of the trip in rear-wheel drive only to avoid breaking it.

On to day two of our adventures...

we packed up and left camp making our way along some cool trails to meet up with Monet and Morgan..

sadly at this point warren lost his taillights... although we found them and taped them back on..

we stopped and looked for some wall art painted some 2k years ago..

we also stopped at an old mine

continuing on to meet up with more people.. we ran a fun fast section then stopped at some lava caves and flows. When Matt aka godlesspro had his victory diff skid break and start spinning around the driveshaft..

once we met up with Monet and Morgan, we made our way to camp ..

however, about an hour into that, Monet had two breaks in a short period of time with a flat tire and her rear window broke when firewood came loose and smashed it..

    off to camp... finally

    peach cobbler for desert...

and of course, we did a night run!!

    on to day three...

we took the morning to mess around and hit some whoops, and this is where it all went down hill, the almost / biggest incident of the trip happened...

And living up to his sticker, the Roy incident...

    AND were out!

now we can go run trails!

    quick lunch break

another stop at some more lava tubes...

a few more issues with trucks today, warrens bedside came loose. Alex winch stopped working, Craig lost a tail light, my abs sensor wire got screwed up, andys whip light broke... on to camp for our turkey dinner...

After a few cold nights we were low on wood, so Alex, Craig, Joon and I did firewood run into Baker...

we had to make a long big firepit to fit everyone around...

All setup time to make dinner

the last morning everyone got some custom pancakes..

    And thats it folks!!

    Trip Totals...

    People - 23
    Trucks- 15
    Days - 4
    Turkeys - 2
Miles Traveled - approx 250+ offroad
    Truck breaks - 16
    Fun - Endless

And everyone got a awesome cookie to take home!!

    Thanks to @Vizsla wife...

A little of this and a little of that. Its pretty run of the mill.
To be clear my truck didn’t break but my spirit did. I don’t think I got over 60 mph the rest of the trip.

Thanks for doin' the write up Bruce.
    Thanks for the planning Alex.
    Thanks for the excitement Roy.
    Thanks everyone, frickin awesome trip!
It should be noted (Bruce did say Roy only had RWD) that Roy destroyed that hill climb in 2WD while others were struggling, often failed to make it in 4WD.

    It sure was!

Here’s the best pic I got of Roy’s truck on the wrong side of that dune, trying to show the degree and depth of that incline. The pics seldom show the reality. That wall in the background is the almost flat ground of the valley below. And that bush is pretty much viewed top down: 29E236A3-7F3F-45EF-86FF-BC1934A77509.jpg

Thank you @osidepunker and everyone, for the fun and the magic!

Thanks again @papasmurf for building the best toy ever! Every time I go out, I appreciate it more.

I’m glad you’re thinking about swapping out those wheels. 17’s for the win!

Yup, awesomest people! After this video was taken, @Stewie spent the remainder of that day showing/teaching me to tune my rear shocks, making adjustments at every stop til it’s fairly dialed in now. Tamed those donkey kicks, and makes a huge difference on the driving and comfort. And safety. Thank you! :fistbump:

Current wheel setup matches what came on the truck at purchase, switching was done with idea to have the old set as spares, 3 of em now since I gave one to Tony @fisherman951 and also done before decision was made to upgrade suspension.
Wrong order, I know; it is what it is.

And 2 more trail related breakages: Both Andy and Stewie discovered they have the stuck inertia valve issue and can't easily refuel anymore.

I was part of the crew who cooked dinner Friday night and was too busy feeding folks! You woulda liked my meat Rich!!

And the next morning was packing gear and taking out glass only to replace with a plastic trash bag to minimize dust on the trail, which worked like a charm!!

    Pic of rear view..
