I’ve decided to pull the trigger and order a 2019 Pro. My order will be finalized on Monday. Here’s my dilemma.

    White or black?

I’ve already got a storm trooper 4Runner. Do I keep it stormtrooper strong with another white truck, or do I add the darkness to the lineup?
Vehicle is going directly to my detailer for modesta coating.

Truck is getting Rigid midnight smoked lights, and all black wheels.

So it’s either murdered out, or white and black.

Honestly, if i were going to buy 1, it would be Voodoo Blue. For some reason that isnt an option, so id say White.

Same. “Stormtrooper Edition” looks very, very cool when done right.... so does “Vader”. Black is hotter in the summer and harder to keep clean, but looks so freaking good when waxed etc...

Tough choice. I’m partial to the “Afghanistan Sand”, MGM, or Cement. Don’t see many of those around. “Sand Trooper” would look good as well. Get black TRD bed decals instead of white. Smoke the lights. F’n sweet.

    Too many to list
I hardly see any black TRDPRO on the road. Most of the TRDPROs are white and other colors.

U are getting coating done right away means you keep yours vehicles clean plus coating will shine like hell on black. TRD Pro will look really mean in black. If you SC it. It will be mean Raptor beater. I say black.

How is this even a question??
The greatest vehicle color ever produced was Toyota Super White!! If you are really having this dilemma than just get one of each color.:spending:

These are all valid. They are both really nice.

@dud13 I do think quicksand is the best color ever done. There is a used one in Houston near me for $41000. I don’t know why but I’m funny about used trucks. This truck will only get 5-6k miles a year. So that’s a good plus for used and new.

It’s too blue for me. I’d get tired of it. I’ve had 4 new trucks in 5 years. I’m ready to be done doing that.

I don't have the time to wash a truck 3000 times a week so I vote white.
I have a black toy car (MX5) that I have to wash every time I drive it.

The only reason I didn’t go with the cement. I think that is one bad ass color but was just afraid that I would get sick of it after awhile...

Super White is not a great quality paint. It's single stage (the regular black 202 is too fwiw), and the white gets chalky/dull after a while. Is the black they offer for the 2019 pros the Attitude Black (color code 218 and has flake) or called something else? Reason why I"m asking is because the 218 black is metallic and base coat/clear coat so it is a better paint system than the single stage Super White 040 and black 202. If its Attitude Black 218 then that's what I would do. If not, then they're both single stage so its pick one of the two most dissimilar colors (you have to like one better than the other :D)

This is solid. I looked it up. Apparently attitude black is now midnight black. It changed names in 2016 and is code 218 not 202.

Care to elaborate more on the differences in paint systems? I’m interested.

Ah, good. So the black for the 2019 TRD Pro is Midnight Black 218? Previous Pros in black were the 202 black (single-stage).

So the two types of paint systems in my post are base coat/clear coat (BC/CC) and single stage (SS)

Single stage paint is old school and a cost effective way of painting both the base coat (color) and clear coat (protection/shine) in one step. It was used more way back in the day and not many new car manufacturers use it today (regular ol' white for RAM is BC/CC, for example). SS paint was used for non-metallic colors such as white, black, and red. This is an area where Toyota is lacking in not offering their super white 040 and black 202 in BC/CC. I'm a pretty avid detailer, so I could never own a SS painted vehicle just for the sake of it being an inferior way of painting the vehicle - and because I don't like the characteristics of working with SS paint. A buddy of mine has an 040 and every other year, maybe every third year, we have to compound and polish all the oxidation and chalkiness away because the paint begins to look flat, dull, and off-white. This is because the base coat and clear coat are sprayed mixed together versus the base coat being completed covered/encapsulated by clear coat. When I first was looking at buying a Tundra I did a lot more research into it. I'm glad a friend has the 040 so I can see how it ages and know that I don't want to have to deal with it. I want to polish, seal, coat, etc. clear coat - not clear/color mixed in SS.

Hope that all makes sense. Let me know if you have any questions. One thing is for sure - tons of people have the white so you wouldn't be making a mistake if you went that route. I'll admit to being a highly particular and picky person, so the SS thing is a deal breaker for me.

Thank you for the write up, this definitely makes me think a bit. My 4Runner is getting a bit chalky now that you mention it.

I’m taking the truck to my detailer for modesta coating once I get it. So I’ll pick his brain too and see what he thinks

My wife and I saw a white pro on the road yesterday and it looked really good, but was lacking a bit of that wow factor that the Black has

When you get your truck, if its single stage make sure your detailer knows it's single stage. Some coatings (ex: CQuartz) don't react well on certain single stage paint. At least there are those stories out there, so if you be sure to tell your detailer and he says it's no big deal, he's on the hook to give you a great final product.

So if you're talking coatings, we look at things similarly :)

Modesta is a great coating. The biggest thing with coatings is the application (esp. prep). You can have a crappy detailer installing Polish Angel and it turns out like crap and you can have a good detailer install OptiCoat and it will turn out great (Don't get opticoat though :D). I'm a CQuartz guy - I've installed all their coatings except finest because I'm not a Pro - I'm just Prosumer. CQuartz can be finicky to apply, especially for those DIYers attempting to coat for the first time. They tend to leave high spots where the coating wasn't wiped off fully after flashing. Modesta is definitely highly regarded and is a good product. The next vehicle I coat, I'm going to give the Kamikaze line a try just to try something different. While I CAN apply the CQuartz line, getting something easier to apply isn't a bad thing :) I think you'll be happy with the results you'll see with Modesta and a good installer.

My last Tundra was black and I'll never own another black vehicle. It was a third vehicle that was in the garage 90% of the time and it was still impossible to keep clean and keep the swirl marks at bay. I'm OCD and can't imagine how bad it would have looked if it were a daily driver. Black looks awesome after it's detailed but wasn't worth all the work to me to keep it looking that way. The modesta coating would definitely help but the work required to keep a black truck looking good isn't worth it to me.

Although I voted Black and my Tundra is Black it is common knowledge that Black looks great for the 2 hours after you detail it. Aside from that it doesn't look as great, but I still love it. What you are saying makes perfect sense.

Every once in a while I promise myself my next truck will be Silver. Then I wash it and fall in love again, for a few minutes, haha.

White or Black, it's a win in my book. White will he easier though OP!

Black requires commitment. You either have it or you dont!

If you're worried about panties dropping get another color!

If you like cute little catch phrases like, "white is the fastest color", dont get black.

Yea, this is a good point to bring up...black is definitely more maintenance.
