"Ford is already working with app developers to deliver apps based on SmartDeviceLink standards and Toyota on Wednesday confirmed that it will be following suit from the beginning of 2018."

Though not specific to tundras, it might be signs that indicates a revamped truck in 2018

At this point in time, I would say best-case scenario would be that they announce a new truck in 2018.

Considering what Sweers did (didn't do) with the Tacoma, DO NOT expect big changes with the new Tundra WHENEVER that may be.

The rumors I've heard is same body with the edition of LED headlights, pseudo Atkinson cycle engine like the Taco, and 8 speed from the land cruiser. It's all rumors though. All signs point to nothing big though.

My '07 is getting long in the tooth and I am so ready to upgrade in the next year or two. I have been waiting/wishing/hoping for the next gen Tundra, but am beginning to think it is all in vain and I'm going to be majorly disappointed. At this point I have all but decided on a '17 or '18 F150. Sure, I love the reliability factor with Toyota, but I just don't think the next gen Tundra will even come close to giving me that tickle I got back in 2006 when they unveiled the "ALL NEW" Tundra.

How is the 8 speed in the Landcruiser? I am wondering whether or not I should wait for the 18' truck or buy a discounted 17. I know the Tacoma owners are not pleased since the ECU hunts gears.

I wouldn't expect another redesigned game changer Tundra until around 2020.

Although, they things I would do to trade my 2010 DC in for a 2017 Platinum. Once you've sat in ventilated seats, its hard to go back.

Ford has a better 5.0 coming out, more powerful 3.5 and 2.7 Ecoboosts, 10 speed trannys, and new 3.0 diesel! Toyota is getting left behind, way behind (coming from someone who has had 5 new Toyotas in 5 years for different reasons).

I've driven 3-4 gens of Ford F-150's during my career and will say I will never own one. The quality of their builds just don't impress me. I'm sure they would hold up better if we drove them like we own them instead of a company vehicle, but I'm still not buying one.

The diesel is from Jaguar/Land Rover... Pass. Not too long ago, Land Rovers had a 300% warranty claim rate. Add American EPA crap on top of that and Im sure you'd be getting acquainted with the dealership rental fleet real soon.

They have had significantly changes since TaTa motors bought them.

I honestly don't understand the hate Ford gets. They have had the best selling truck for like 40 something years and the best selling overall vehicle for like 35. If it was junk, they wouldnt sell. My family has had two and neither of them had any issues (myself included) If Toyota didnt make a full size I would have bought a Ford. No questions.

Another benefit of the Fords is the fact you can get a full rear seat AND a 6.5' bed. PLEASE Toyota can't you even try to keep up with the competition?

Even though 2014 was more of a 2.5 gen update, I wouldn't expect anything from Toyota till 2020

True, but I dont think Toyota is trying to catch every member of the full size market. It would be hard to compete with the big three. They are building their lineup based off the big sellers. Not the small groups of people that need 4 full doors and a long bed.

But where they're also not trying to keep up is in performance. Others have more power, more tow capacity, and better mileage. I like Toyota but think they're just sitting on their customer loyalty and got lazy.

Same here. I loved the truck itself and many of the new features. The keyless unlock and start, auto window switches, charging pad and power outlets in the bed are just a few of the goodies. The engine and transmission ran me back to the Tundra. I know they look at these forums and already have an earful

Patience. Trust what works, I like all the bells, but not at the cost of NEW vs. PROVEN. Toyota seems to be every 7 year redesign-Nothing new here, but could make some updates so it sparks interest. Kinda like a new phone every year.
