Thanks iHacker! Was able to install my trd pro headlights with your harness. Only real issue I had was getting the wire through the rubber grommet on the fire wall, rest was easy.

Ok guys, got my headlights and need to decide on which harness. I’m leaning towards non dimming without amber delete. Can anyone post a picture that has this setup and one with the dimming option so I can compare?

I’ve read this entire thread and have seen some people say it’s not worth the extra effort for the dimmer and others say they’re too bright if you don’t dim, so I’d like to actually see it if possible. Thanks!

I installed mine with the dimmer, it took an extra 10 minutes to install, and I deleted the amber dtrl, no need for 2 dtrl. I like that the led dtrl dims with my head lights on. I'm my opinion it's worth the extra time and money to have it look and work like factory I mean your paying for factory head lights right?

Good point on it working like OEM, didn’t really think of that. As far as the amber drl, I actually like the look of them so I wanted to see what both would look like.

Keeping your amber would also be an easier install because you don't need to depin the grey wire just tap onto it. De pinning the grey wire and brining the wire though the firewall was the hardest part of the install for me.

The factory led assemblies and @iHacker harness are a great choice.

Hey Jim thanks for your condolences, the kids are doing well trying to overcome their parents loss.

Learning how to live without them is a shocking thing I cannot imagine that in my life but I'm sure they'll get over it, my niece is recovering from 3 jaw surgeries and my nephew (the driver at the time of accident) only had some minor bumps he was totally recovered next week after the accident.

Thank you guys for all your prayers.

Yes for amber delete simply depin or cut the gray wire in plug J28, that’s with the bright all the time harness

2017 SR5 with the amber drl. I just got my TRD Pro led head lights today and hope to install on the next warmish day. Question is, can i keep the Amber Drl and and not use the LED Drl ?I may want to use the Led Drl at a later date so having the option to hook them up would be nice. Should i get the dimming harness but not use certain connections? Thank you guys

@iHacker I worked with you in 2017, purchasing a PnP wiring kit for my 2014 Platinum with 2018+ OEM LED Headlights.

Today, while cleaning off the acid buildup on my battery terminals, my passenger side Headlight blew out. The orange parking light still works, but the led lights are not working. I checked the fuse in the harness, good. I checked the factory fuse in the engine bay, good. I'm hoping I don't have to purchase another light. After all, all I was doing was using a small brush to clean and vacuum away the acid buildup and would think one of the fuses would blow if there were any issues.

Since it's been over 3-years and you're still making these harnesses I was curious if you've heard of this issue before? Additionally, are you still requiring those who purchase your kits, to purchase a Moritmoto control unit, or have you created a different method with the harnesses you sell? It doesn't look like you are anymore. At least I didn't see mention of this unless I missed it. Furthermore, 3-years ago we were also repinning one wire on the driver's side factory harness IIRC. I plan to test the control unit tomorrow (if I can) to see if there's an issue there. I doubt there is though and would assume if it was bad, both would not work.

    Thank you for your time,
    Judd

    ^ I like this..
Are the strips on dim with the amber DRL on?

    2014 SR5.
I've always wanted the LED headlights, but didn't want to lose my amber DRL.
I now see that I can keep them.

    My questions:

    Daytime, head lights off:
Is there a way to have the amber DRL on (bright) and the LED strip off during the day?

    Night time head lights on:
Is there a way to have the amber DRL on (but dimmer like it is now) and have the LED strip on dim?

In other words, can I only have the LED strip come on dim with the headlights, and never come on bright for any reason?

    Thanks 1LL
