Unrelated to headlights. But I have a 16 platinum and wanna switch grills like you did. Is the emblem the same size and swappable, or did you have to order a new Toyota emblem as well? Looks great by the way.

@iHacker - Are you still selling the harnesses? Looking to install 2018 Platinum headlights into my 2017 Limited truck. I didn't read through all 26 pages, but assume you still have two different variations available? When you have a moment can you shoot me a PM? I'm ready to purchase pending a deal with another member on his headlights within the next week. Thanks in advance.

I know this is a year old post ..... @Pudge and @iHacker has this issue been resolved or cause determined? Just ordered the PNP harness from IHacker and I am getting ready to order/install 2019 Pro headlights on my 2014 Platinum replacing the old halogen headlights and want to be sure I won’t experience the issue you had Pudge. Pudge did you determine the cause of this issue? What was the fix?
Feedback appreciated before I order the 2019 Pro Headlights. Thank you gents.

@Patriot IIRC I think @Pudge problem was in the stalk for the lights/turn signals. Not sure on the other issue but I have had no problems on my truck since the install. Hope this helps.

Hey fellas. I have not found out what causes the issues. It's pretty much impossible to replicate. I would need a tech to drive me truck at night in cool weather, and drive it often. This has happened twice this year and it happened 2 or 3 times last year. Its really weird and unpredictable. I think it's the headlight stalk but I can't be sure. It does happen to people without any lighting upgrades at all, so even fully stock trucks are getting this problem.

Good morning guys I hope everything is going well, That’s a really weird problem and I never have seen something like this in person, but like @Pudge said my best bet is there’s something wrong in the headlights stalk. If you haven’t tried yet go under steering column on the left side and check the 20 pins lights switch harness to see if you detect a loose pin or something else easy to fix :fingerscrossed:

@Patriot don’t worry about your headlights conversion the problem is something isolated to this. At this point if you haven’t seen something similar in your truck you are good, this might happen even for people with old stock halogen headlights.

I had to order a new emblem. If I remember correctly the emblem is actually from a land cruiser. The emblem that normally comes with that grill has a Toyota safety sense sensor in it and is expensive.

Did this install over the weekend, loving the new '19 TRD Pro headlights that I ordered from @Roman during his Black Friday sale (free shipping!). I did the stupid-proof non dimming harness, it was very easy and everything works great.

I wasn't sure about the amber running lights but once everything was up and running I really liked the contrast that the orange adds so no grey wire cutting for me.

So far, so good and hopefully no issues pop up! Thanks @iHacker for the easy to use harness and for responding to my questions so quickly and politely (and this morning I took that one side apart and fixed that one zip tie I'd forgotten...it was driving me crazy...).

Looks great man. I just got my TRD Sport lights and LED fogs the other day. Now I realize I need a harness from @iHacker before I can install. Once I get my 20" Platinum wheels on and the lights in I'll be set.

I’m sorry if I’m asking a dumb question but I’m going to anyway. My tundra was in a front end collision and I just dropped the truck off at repair shop. It’s a 2019 cm sr5. I gave the shop part number for black trd pro headlights. Will I need a wire harness adapter to install these or is my truck equipped since it’s same year?

If your truck came with led headlights, then no harness required. If it has halogen headlights, yes you need a harness.

You're gonna love them, dude. Once you button everything up, fire up the truck and see that beautiful LED trim...so worth it.

I prefer the TRD wheels, though myself. Love the 18's.

For your truck assuming you have the old Platinum/1794 style headlights you go to need the plug and play harness, is really easy to install using this harness.

Thanks! I don't use anything complicated, I'm just one of those weirdos that doesn't water wash his cars. Once a week I use a microfiber duster on it followed by a microfiber towel used to put on a coat of spray wax.

Glass cleaner on the windows, tire shine on the tires and trim stuff on the plastics, I've got it down to about an hour job.

I learned years ago that constant light layers of wax every week will make a car shine like crazy rather than one big coat twice a year or so. It's like polishing black boots...lots of light layers. Water beads right off like nothing, too. :)
