:p If cutting the wire is something you can live with go ahead it should be fine I doubt you would have to use it again.

In my case my OCD won’t let me damage factory wiring that’s something I always avoid at all cost.

My OCD as well would normally not allow for this easy way out but either Im just super jacked and swole or that grey wire is a biyatch. So after about 45min and a feeling that I may be bending and twisting other wires trying to get at this grey wire, I said screw it.

Wait, so you lifted the rectangular tab on the exterior of the white connector and you still couldn't get the gray wire out?

So you guys know, I’m very “green horn” on electrical wiring but I did it with @iHacker harness-dimming. I’m very happy with the result. Big boost on my confidence of doing more mod. I stumbled a little in the de pinning part, even though I have the extractor pin but that’s all there is. The result was satisfying. It took me also a bit of time on the headlight adjustment. I don’t like to scratch the new headlight I ordered from @Roman( the god of Toyota parts).

^ Yes like he said all 2014-17 1794 and Platinum trucks are completely plug and play and keep all factory functionality (LED DRL dimming, no Amber DRL, no depin).

Same for 2018-19 SR5 trucks with halogen headlights and single LED strip.

@iHacker hey man, just purchased the 2019 headlights for my 2017 SR5. As far as the harness goes, I believe I would like to purchase the "always bright" option. I'll also inbox you.

Wanted to thank iHacker for the harness and the writeup. After initially buying and installing the Bright all the time harness, I ended up needing to switch to the dimming option on my 2016 SR5. He was super quick in getting me just the parts I needed to make the switch and im stoked with the end results.

First pic is with VLED 6K switchbacks with the LED DRL and in the second you can see the LED DRL dim while the headlights are on.

Question if I order the non dimming DRL kit in order to disable amber DRL do you just disconnect grey wire and tape off end?

hey brother.. with the switchbacks, are you just replacing the bulb? or is there like a resistor or ballast or something that also needs to be installed?

I threw a pair of switchbacks on a while back and kept burning up fuses, so I yanked them out lol they weren't VLED though

If you are using the olde size bulbs from older headlights into the new ones definitely they wouldn’t work because new headlights use a different bulb and probably that’s why yours keep blowing up the fuse, if you want a LED turn signal bulb make sure you use the correct size 7443NA bulb

I haven't replaced any bulbs yet with the new headlights. The problems I was having with blowing the fuses were a while back on a standard set of OEM heads (not 2019s).

I was just curious if these switchback bulbs required any harnesses in case I wanted to swap these out. I actually found a link and checked them out though, so I think I figured it out lol

They absolutely need load resistors but that’s all

yeah, the ones on the VLEDs site looked to have it all. I don't remember, but I assume the swithbacks I tried a while back didn't have a resistor, so Im sure that's what it was. Cant think if the brand I used though
