Is it normal for the Amber's to be illuminated, or is that because it was not led DRLs prior?

It's not normal. If you are using the iHacker harness, you can choose to keep it or not.

Once the harness is plug and play.. (bone head proof), ill likely bite. No part of me wants to depin or tap under the dash.. Good Lord No. Lol
Looks like a nice harness though.. Will be monitoring his progress.

He already sells a plug and play version. I bought the version that is not PNP, but it wasn't hard at all. Especially since he will provide Posi-Taps that are easy to use. Took me 2 hours in the dark. Most of that time was spent trying to figure out how to take the grill and lower dash off. I could probably do it in half the time now.

But again, you can go the PNP route and not have to deal with any of that.

I think it is already full plug N play provided you order it according to your truck

I probably got lost in chatter then. I read his directions and it seemed limited and others had some under the dash electrical issues that had to be contended with...DRL or something. As luck would have it, I have the amber DRL, and a limited..

    I'll read it again.

This is what you would need. Nothing to do under the dash. You follow steps 1-4 and then just follow the directions about tapping into the fuse box. Which is just taking a fuse out of the IGN slot -> add the fuse you just took out to the harness -> plug the harness into the IGN slot. Done.

TRD PRO/SR5/LIMITED Non-Dimming LED DRLs (Bright mode all the time) $110

Ask first for this option, I can do this one by request only, this work fuse tapped to the IGN fuse your DRL will be ON/OFF keyed. If you have no experience with electrical wiring projects this is the way to go 100% PNP

Thanks Howard. I took a screenshot. That's pretty easy. I'll look for the headlights now. Some apparently have incandescent amber bulbs.. Lol (Who does that?)

Maybe Sparks, or something closer to me so shipping isn't ridiculous.

    Thanks again.

Thanks @VTYOTA like you said there’s a complete plug n play option to have LED DRL in your Limited @Tierhog you can choose the Non-Dimming Harness and everything is done in the engine compartment (no wires through firewall no under dashboard modifications).

For @trddriver my harness for your 1794 truck is plug and play and you don’t have to do anything for the LED DRL since your truck is pre wired for the single LED strip

Thanks iHacker !!!! Beautiful product. Works great!!

Oh ya.....grey wire under dash, a b$%ch. I just cut mine. Hopefully I never need it again or need to strip it anymore. No room.
Rest of install is straightforward via the instructions. Just dont skip a step. I did and cost me about 10 min.

I'm wanting to put the 19 headlights on my 16 Limited but I would like to know what happens to the DRL switch on the steering column.

No switch changes on the steering column.

With @iHacker DRL dimming harness, you can choose to delete the amber DRL by de-pinning one wire. Or, you can choose to retain the amber DRL, and they will function the same as they did before. With the 2018/2019 headlights, LED DRL strips will be added, but will dim when the headlights are turned on.

Edit: @AjOrduna De-pinning can be a challenge to the inexperienced. See post #603 directly above yours for degree of difficulty.

Its just like @JohnLakeman said. The DRL configuration you want is completely up to you, but trust me, you’ll want only the LED DRL once you see them. That is coming from someone who loved only the amber DRL that my 16 TRD Pro came with. I just changed mine out last weekend. Dont be afraid of depinning(unclipping a wire from plug). If you watch the video which @iHacker provides AND read the written instructions, all on his thread, there honestly is NO way you’ll struggle with it. If you dont want to take my word for it, you can easily try it out before buying anything.

There are only 2-10mm bolts and super strong clips that are meant to be removed so dont snap on you, which hold the panel by your feet. Watch the video on how to remove the panel on iHackers instructions and practice depinning the gray cable you’re supposed to. The written instructions explains part of the process and the video explains the other part. BOTH ARE CRUCIAL to making this the easiest task ever. A thumb tack or safety pin will work just fine.

Thanks @JohnLakeman and @New_DoorDing I'm not worrying about installation or depinning, just wanted to know what happens to the original switch. I build Camrys for a living so it should not be too much difference.

Maybe I'm confused, but there is no switch for DRL on my 2017 SR5 Tundra. They come on with the engine running and the parking brake off. They go off when you turn the headlights turn on (or you shut the ignition off). Starting with 2018, I believe the driver can turn the DRL off.

If you're thinking of the Park light switch position, or the fog light switch ring, those functions do not change.

I am also confused. The 16 TRD pro doesnt have a switch to turn off the DRL’s. I’m with @JohnLakeman in that I believe you’re confusing your truck bed light switch to the left of your steering wheel. That light only illuminates the bed of your truck.

Older trucks with higher trim have a DRL Switch too, starting with the 2014-17 Limited (not 100% sure), Platinum and 1794 trucks. SR, SR5 and PRO never had that option for those years :(
