I did the same thing...didn't want to mess around with the resistors and all that. I held off for 2 years with this truck, but these 2018 lights just look too cool and that's what spurred me to do it finally. Wasn't going to do just the fronts, so did the rears too. FYI - those red 921 VLEDS rear turn signal bulbs are insanely bright.

And of course, once you change one, you might as well change them all because that's where it's heading. I changed out only white lights.

Haha exactly. We did the same thing...I bought the truck and immediately changed out only the white bulbs to 5000k VLEDS. Didn't do anything with any other lights. Did the 2018 lights, and now I have every bulb on the truck converted

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who gets sucked down the rabbit hole...:D :)

Looks great! So happy I took the time to do the research and get the harness from the right person: iHacker. I have a feeling I'll be ordering/installing several of these harnesses once my local Tundra buddies see how awesome the lights look and function :)

Did this question ever get answered? What changed, what was the motocontrol driving in the first place?

I also fell victim to the "just installed the weekend before last" and I'll probably pull the motocontrol and re-do now because I really disliked the quality of that thing. It wasn't long enough to begin with, the connectors were staggered, and the shrink wrap that held the braid on wasn't tight. It's a hot mess of wire harnesses on each side.

Well I got motocontrol and don't have problems but I agree with you that I would love that I order mine after but so far working and I must have spare motocontrol in case first one fail

Just installed mine with the new harness and wanted to give iHacker a big thank you. His harness is great quality and instructions were spot one. My biggest issue was a couple of the existing plugs were bears to get off, but other than that was very straightforward. The turn signal adapters are a big help not having to mess with de-pinning. Lights look and work great.

This. I want to know what the difference is. I currently have one of the Motocontrol harnesses as well and want to know what changes were made. I do not want to disclose what manufacturer I went with but I had much the same issue of the harness length with having to run it across the front to the other side of the truck.

No difference at all headlights still work the same with the updated harness just less wiring and directly to the stock headlights plug on both sides no wires attached to battery or grounds on each side of the truck. If you already have the Motocontrol powered harness you can still keep your same setup, no need to change anything at all and your headlights should work as expected. Just my $0.2 on this.

They do work however I have started to notice some flickering when I am driving at night. Already checked all my grounds and other connections and even swapped headlights with a friend of mine who has a 2018.

Ok I see, probably a loose connection, check all the wires, I’m pretty sure that could be your problem.

Terminals in generic connectors are really bad even with the proper crimper tool the wire tends to slide off with a slight effort, that’s why I don’t use generic connectors.

Yea I've already double checked all wiring. Buddy of mine has a 2018 with the full LED Headlights and while he had the grill off doing some other work on it he let me borrow his lights and they did the same thing. My fear is as you stated poor quality terminals/connectors that after being heat cycled a number of time have already started making a bad connection. The most frustrating thing is having paid a premium for something and now having issues with it.

Yeah I bet the problem isn’t the Motocontrol that thing is really good quality, I guess the problem itself is in the harness you bought, check terminals and connectors and make sure all cavity plugs are in place if not make sure there’s no water damage in the terminals.

IHackers harness is second to none. I’ve been doing retrofit headlights for years now, and this harness is better than The Morimoto harnesses I’ve had experience with quality wise. I’ll definitely recommend iHacker for anyone looking for a harness. Thanks iHacker for making s quality harness for the members on this forum.

I am looking to upgrade the headlights in my 2015 Tundra Double to the 2018 LED headlights discussed in this thread.

    I have two questions:

    1. Currently, when the headlights are off and the Daytime Running Light (DRL) switch is ON, both the amber lights and the grille mounted LED lights are ON. When the DRL switch is in the OFF position, the amber lights remain ON and the LED lights turn OFF. The LED lights are the Dimming type. Is there a modification that I can make so that the amber lights can be controlled by the DRL switch along with the LED lights? There are times that I have the vehicle running and do not want the amber lights to be on.

    2. Which harness would I need to get from @iHacker in order to have the same control of the DRL's for the 2018 LED headlights?
