Toyota has sold over 413,897 tundra's from 2019-2021. But I have yet to see any major transmission failures on this web site. Is this aisin-warner AB60E/F transmission that bad? I would like to hear from those Tundras.com owners how have had to replace there 2019-2021 transmission.

Goodcarbadcar website said this is the best transmission the Japanese have ever built. Are they wrong?

All 413,897 have extremely low mileage therefore it’s too soon to tell…

    FWIW...here is goes...

GM just now released a TSB 21-xx-199...

    2014+ 6L80s had a 180 thermostat that opened fully at 194...

GMs TSB now utilizes a fully open trans tstat at 158 due to gearbox related issues...

The transmission in the Tundra is about as bulletproof as you can get. With that said they sure didn’t do it any favors when they ditched the cooling system in the 19 and newer models. I don’t care how tough a component is , excess heat will kill anything eventually. A lot of people think that the high transmission temps in the trucks without coolers only has to do with towing but the number of trucks that have overheated the transmissions driving mountain or backcountry roads at slower speeds in 4wd seems to be greater than those towing. It’s a heat sink with no way to cool down.

As this gets rolling, please remember that the 2018 still had the cooler, if that is to become a central part of the good transmission/bad transmission dialogue.

Honestly that’s a GM transmission. Toyota has never had the transmission troubles GM has had. And secondly 158 is even low by the last decade temperatures.

I’ve yet to see a single 18+ truck with a transmission failure. Could it happen? Of course. It’s an assembled part. Seen a couple high temp situations, but 99% of that is human error.

Yep. He claims to be over 8,000lbs, which is well over GVWR…then loads up and tows. Dang. So heavy loads, heavy towing and I bet he wails on that truck with the supercharger (I would!). If he wasn’t monitoring the tranny temp it didn’t stand a chance.

Well, even if he was monitoring the temp, it didn't stand a chance if he didn't do anything about it.
