Hello Fellow Tundra brothers. Im hoping you guys can give some insight on this. If the TSS sensor does not have to be mounted at the center of the grille and can detect forward motion through the plastic of the pro grille then relocating the sensor should be possible. The thickness of the new emblem and the plastic on the pro grille is the exact same unless there is something built into the emblem that allows the TSS sensors radar to work.

    TSS:

    Option 1 not preferred
    20171226_171557.jpg
OPTION 2 Trim plastic braces down ans mount sensor to the left of toyota emblem behind plastic. Swap TSS mount and secure TSS to emblem attachment here by trimming these 2 slots to accomadate bracket mount.

If the TSS radar sensor can function properly behind the plastic then this will work perfect also the wiring for the harness can be hidden.

That would be sweet if this mod works please keep every posted on what you find, I have a 2018 sport and would love to put the pro grille on it. I have my pro grille in the attic.

I'm curious how this works, but I personally will wait for the 2018 pro grill if I'm going to swap it out.

Ok Tundra brothers I have successfully relocated the TSS radar sensor from the 2018 grille to the 2017 TRD PRO Grille!

OLD METHOD REMOVED DUE TO NOT WORKING CORRECTLY

    Arrival, Before and After photos

Im really happy the radar was transferable. Im really enjoying this truck! Any questions please feel free to send me a pm

    NEW METHOD

    New UPDATE JULY 2018:

After leveling my truck and raising the front end about 2.5 inches I have started having issues with the TSS pre collision radar. So... I have fabbed up a new bracket.

First I removed the front grille and the TSS radar from its current posistion. Then started fabbing together the new bracket with a center and lower orientation.

Will include a full tutorial with parts needed and where drilling is required. One attachment hole needs to be drilled.
Blacked out lexan impact shield installed
    20180702_213548.jpg

For those that do not want the hassle I am custom building these for anyone that would want a shielded matte black relocation bracket. I have the current heights and location for the bracket after hundreds of miles of testing. There is a lot of intricate design and fitting to get the radar sensor in the exact placement and still be aesthetically appealing to the eyes behind the trd pro grille or aftermarket grille.
So take the guess work out of it and I will send you one of mine.
    They are $100 shipped.

Looks like there is a 2018 Pro grill coming with the tss relocation available. So hopefully no major modification.

Would it be possible to use a Dremel to trim out part of the support bracket rather than removing the entire support? Sort of create a pocket beneath the support to fit the sensor without losing the support brace?

then don't turn it on, it defaults to being off when you start the truck if it already turned off via the mini display settings :)

only time I turn on the lane departure is on long road trips and I only turn on auto cruise control when on the highway on said long trips.

I like modifying stuff to make it my own but thats cool a new grille is coming out. My fix cost $10 :)
I did find out the emblem does not provide any assistance to the radar itself. And does not need to be in the center of the grille. Why I hid mine and probably took 30 min to do with 4 hrs of epoxy dry time

That support barely holds any resistance back. You could trim the bottom of the support out to fit the sensor below it. The support is barely attached anyway

No issues thus far doing great. Put a few hundred miles on it and no issues. Sensor is staying in placing even in this frigid weather.
