I’ve been getting the towing brake error along with flashing 4 hi & lo, traction control and ABS. I had the problem for 2 weeks, finally the truck wouldn’t start one morning, dead battery. I got a new battery and all the error lights went away. 3 months later they are have returned. Now when I start the truck I have the traction and ABS lights on and the truck is very sluggish, speedometer barely moves but once the rest of the dash lights come on from above, including the towing brake error the truck has all its power and speedometer is back to normal. Hopefully this makes sense, I’m looking for some help for someone that isn’t too familiar with the ins and outs.

First guess would be your charging system, sounds like the battery isn't charging properly, I would get quick test of your system it might be under charging or pulling the battery down, if a new battery fixed it and several months later problem reappeared.

Did it look like this? I got mine at the dealer right now. They aren't having much luck figuring it out.

Woke up this morning to a dead battery and this exact error message. Did the dealership figure anything out about what was causing it?

No, I have a stock SR5CM. I shoulda known mice are the likely culprit...I had to get the wiring harness on my '13 Taco replaced a while ago from those fvckers and the nest was near the battery...any thoughts on where their nest is likely to be in the Tundra?

Thanks for the ideas, John! I would not have even considered mice or the interior filter on my own. Much appreciated!
