    Hello All

I have finally decided to take the leap and leave the stock wheels and tires that cam on my 2015 Crewmax. I got a great deal on a set of 17” rock warrior wheels and have searched forum after forum on the best combo to run. I have decided to install the Billstein 5100’s. For tires I’m leaning Toyo Open Country RT, Nitto Ridge Grappler, or Cooper Discoverer XLT. The hang up is deciding on the size. For some reason I’ve been set on 285/75/17. I really want to avoid any bmc. The question does anyone know if this setup will work or should I go a bit smaller with 285/70/17?

Rock Warriors came with 285/75-17 BFG KOs, And when mine wore down I replaced with that size KO2. Now that those are about done I’ll be going with 35x12.5-17s, again KO2s. I had 5100s all the way around at one point, but we run heavy doing week+ long Overland trips and they only lasted 9 months before I had no rear rebound control left. I replaced 18 months ago with OME BP-51s and absolutely love them. Very pricey, though, and the 5100s are fine for most, but just couldn’t handle the heavily loaded wheeling we routinely do.

    Actually I mis-spoke. Original is 285/70-17 for a RW.

Welcome from NC! Wish I could help with 17” rims but on top setting with 5100s with 18” OEM rims you can go 295 70 18 without much modification other than removing front little mud flap and a little skip plate trim.

Ya I believe the 5100s will be fine for me. The only time I leave the pavement is during hunting season. I just want people in the Kroger parking lot to think, “Man that’s an aggressive looking truck”. Hahaha.
Ya I read about stock being 285/70, but it sounds like going from 70-75 caused issues for some.

285/75R17 on my '19. Rubbed a bit on the splash guard at full lock; easy fix with a pair of channellocks.

That’s a nice looking set up. Have you had an issues getting the tires balanced? I’ve read some 17s have issues with weight placement on the tundra.

Thanks! Wheel weight placement is critical because of the tight clearance between the wheel and the brake caliper. Just tell your tire shop about it when you get the tires installed.

So after talking to the shop they say 285 70 is a much more common size and cost less when compared to the 285 75. They said visible size difference is only about 1/2”. Am I being a head case thinking I can see a difference when I see tundras with 70 vs 75?

Nice find on the RW wheels. I love the 17" wheel with more tire look.

I'm running 285/75/17 with 5100 at the top setting in the front. No BMC but did have to push the front of the plastic inner fender forward which is an easy job. Not sure about the RW wheels but the offset on my Icon wheels is +25 for reference. Hope that helps.

The offset of rock warrior wheels allow bigger tire w less chance of rub than wheels w a higher positive offset(stick out further)

Anyone know the actual specs? Width and offset?
