    Hello everyone,

I'm currently looking at a 2014 tundra double cab and a 2016 tundra double cab.

They are both clean and in very good condition.

    The 2014 is a SR5 with 62k miles
    Leather seats
    60/40 split front bench
    Heated front
    Always oil treated undercoat
    Leveling kit
Steel Roll up style tonneau cover
    Remote start
After market fuel rims and Toyo tires
    1 owner
Get the 4 stock wheels and tires

    The 2016 is a SR5 TRD with 70k miles
Has the 3" ToyoTech ultimate lift with the SPC adjustable control arms
    Aftermarket rims
    K&N intake
    38 gallon fuel tank
    2 owners
    No spare tire
    No stock wheels

Please any and all input is welcome, thanks again friends

Another vote for the 38 gallon tank, though no spare tire seems weird to me.

They both have the 5.7? 4x4? Any other differences in features?

38 gallon tank is a life changer for me. I am also a huge fan of 1 owner vehicles. Not sure what the 2nd one ownership history is, but I have found that the first owner typically really cares for their vehicle....

Yes both are 5.7 4x4 they are almost identical other than the 14 is leather split front seat and the 16 is cloth with center console. The 16 spare tire mechanism does not work due to Maine Winters.

2016. As others have mentioned the 38g tank. The 16 has better brand of suspension upgrade, color matched rear bumper, TRD package, and no stickers on the body. Spare can be found anywhere. Time to have a mechanic look through them.

16, big tank and a real suspension upgrade with adjustable UCAs and actually preferred tires (personal preference). Looks like the big difference may be rust protection? Compare the two in person but maybe the 16 being newer is better?

Guess I'm the oddball... I think the '14 reads like a better truck. Granted, my personal preference would be the console and 38 gal tank, but if the '16 is already so rusty the spare tire mechanism doesn't work that really makes me pause as to how well it was taken care of.

While not Maine, (KS, MI, IN) I've lived in areas that got snow/ice and used salt and brine, but never had anything get so rusty stuff stopped working.

All depends on how much rust they have. Sounds like 16 has quite a bit rusty.

The 16 has a color matched rear bumper. Does it have BSM? I personally wouldn’t get a Tundra that’s not a 38 gallon. But probably would stay away from a rusty one also.

    Good morning everyone,

I thought I'd give an update on what truck was chosen and why.

The chosen truck in the end was the 2014. After finally getting a chance to look at the 2014 and meet the gentleman that owned it it was a hands down no brainer.
The word immaculate does not do this truck justice, fresh off the showroom floor not even close. This truck (aside from OEM 2014 verse 2021 features) could be mistaken for brand new aside from the odometer reading 62000 miles.

After reaching an agreed upon price with the owner he handed me a manila folder 4 in thick filled with every receipt for every transaction that had to do with that truck. The Roadmaster active suspension the rough country leveling kit the tonneau cover every fluid film undercoating every oil change anything maintenance is in this folder.

I know I can hear many of you grumbling right now the 16 had a 38 gallon tank the 16 had a toyotech lift I hear you. Thanks to the fine people of this forum I will now be able to perform a tank swap and in 20k to 30k mi I will be installing a legit suspension kit.

Those two features on the 16 were not enough when going up against a 2014 with all of its accessories and I got all four stock rims and tires (hunting dirt roads in the North Maine woods there is a lot of shale) me likey extra tirey.

Biggest factor that let me know I had made the right choice was when I shook the gentleman's hand to solidify our deal a tear rolled down this man's cheek. This man did not want to sell his truck and that got me right in the feels.

So over the next couple of years I will keep you all posted with upgrades and adventures.

    Cheers!

Sounds like you made the right choice!

I have a manila folder like that for each of my vehicles too.

Same; literally one of the first things I do after buying each vehicle is buying a folder (mine's that plasticky nylon stuff) that I stow somewhere in the house with all receipts for anything I've had done (aside from gas).
