Hi all, new to forum. I owned a New Titan crewmax back in 2008 and just bought a 2014. The question I have is I am doing a Cat back exhaust next week. I want to hollow out the rear cat and wondering if anyone has done this without throwing a code. Both sensors are in front of the rear which I would just hollow out so I can not see an issue but wanted to ask..

I did this in my 2013 Chevy truck and did not have any issues and gained about 2 to 4HP and sounded much better so I would like to do it to the Tundra.

Did it to a 2007 Titan as well but the sensor was behind the 2nd cat and had to put in o2 simulator otherwise it would throw a code.

As long as the sensors are in front of the cats you should be fine. I thought the sensors were behind all the cats, but maybe I'm misremembering.

Not everyone lives in a smog state/county so may be irrelevant there. Yeah yeah, federal emissions laws etc. are still in place. But I still can't imagine wanting to go through the trouble for 2 HP and a marginal sound difference (and the smell). But to each their own I guess.

To answer your question OP, the secondary O2 sensor that measures catalytic efficiency is between the two, so you will be fine.

No Smog or vehicle check in FL, just do not want to have to buy eliminators again.

Hollowed out my Chevy in 20 minutes. Drilled thru and vaced debri, started and cranked it with a vacuum at the open pipe and done. Used a 2 inch hole saw.
