I just purchased my 2010 DC 5.7L. Great truck but the only options on the build sheet were the towing package and a radio upgrade. Came with the basic steel wheels and 255R70 18" tires. I did my preliminary research and it seemed like a TRD wheel should fit my truck. Found a set off of a 14 Tundra with tires, 275R65 18". When I tried mounting the wheel onto the front of my Tundra, the TRD wheel hits the caliper, the rim appears to be too shallow and will not fit all the way onto the studs. Any thoughts or suggestions!

II’ve seen second Gens with third Gen wheels in person. Maybe someone upgraded the brakes? Or maybe these people I have seen were using spacers. Something doesn’t sound right.

I just did a side by side comparison of the parts list on the 2014 (various models) and my 2010. All of the components on the front hub are the same. I'm pretty sure mine does not have the big brake kit on it, just does not seem right that the wheel will not fit over the caliper. I'm thinking my only option might be spacers, (or yes, different wheels).

i'd be more concerned about why it doesn't fit... it should.

Exactly! This is the first I’ve ever heard of that problem. I’ve seen quite a few of the second generation trucks with the newer TRD wheels. No one has ever made this complaint before to my knowledge.

The TRD wheels fit on my 2008 just fine. The wheels brake components are not the problem.

It sounds like something on your truck is not standard - maybe a brake upgrade by previous owner. A side by side comparison might be the easiest if you have a friend with similar truck. Or maybe go to the dealer and have them confirm what is going on, even if you have to pay $30 or something for them to check.

Like everybody else states, something is not right.

I run 2017 TRD PRO wheels on my 2010 DC without issue. Ran them without spacers for a couple months before adding SpiderTrax.

I too have ‘17 TRD wheel on a 2nd gen, fit just fine. Something seems odd, especially since your truck had 18” steel wheels, not 20” like the big brake kits require.

That was the day I bought those wheels. I drove to Calgary to buy them, drove home, put them on, then drove the family to the beach for a bbq picnic.

OK, so after all of your great responses, I started thinking I must be wrong (how is this possible :annoyed:). So I went out today and gave it another shot, Tundra.jpg and to my great surprise, they fit perfectly. Now I am not going to make any excuses (I was tired, it was dark, it was raining, a UFO just landed in the front yard), but I just do not know how I could not have figured this out the first time :der:, after all I do consider myself somewhat of an accomplished shade tree mechanic :anonymous:.

Anyway, thank you all for your help and support and attached is a pic of the final result!

Looks good! Any pics of the UFO? :boink: Just kidding. Glad you gave it another shot, and updated us. Some days things just go that way, even after 16 years of doing it professionally. :frusty:
