2014+ Tailgate Handle on my 2010??

Would the 3rd gen tailgate handle fit my 2nd gen? I searched and see a general answer... "if the footprint is the same, then yes". Well, no shit!! Thank captain obvious! Does anyone know if they are in fact the same?I have a 2010, and am installing a backup cam. I wanted to keep it oem-ish and get the tailgate handle with the hole for the camera. Figured I'd go to the new style if it fits.

 

It should fit.......if the footprint is the same. Hope that helps.
I actually don't see a reason why it wouldn't fit though. Got any buddies in the area that are willing to let you try and temporarily swap for fitment?
I vote don't do it anyway. I'm not a fan of the lettering on them.

There is somebody on here with a white 3G that sanded the letters off and painted it with factory white paint. It looks really good. Eventually I'll look into getting mine painted body color also.
