Does anybody know of a trim piece that would go along the bottom of the tailgate to cover a rust spot? Any forum sponsors that sell, or can custom make one? All I have found is this, but I plan to take the badges off, so looking for a full cover and would prefer black to chrome, but will take whatever at this point. Any ideas would be appreciated! I want to get it done before salt season hits and makes it worse.

If it’s at the bottom of the gate I personally would take it off, place it on a couple saw horses and touch it up. Even if you didn’t achieve a perfect look, would it be that noticeable?
Anyways, that’s what I would do.

That is not a bad idea, thanks! I just got a bottle of touch up paint for some small rock chips too.

Here's a tip, purchase one of these prep pens. They're great for small chips it keeps the sanding to a bare minimum. If you're like me, I have a tendency to sand more than I need to.

Lets see how it looks. I thought my tailgate was needing a repaint but it was only rust stains building up. Used lysol toilet bowl cleaner and it wiped right off. I still need to pull it off and paint the backside edge where the paint flaked but the exterior is back to normal.

Here it is. It is kind of bubbled up. Not sure if it is repairable or not.

Ah, yes i would sand that down and respray. Hardest part is blending. Just make sure you throw a sheet or paper over to avoid overspray. After you painted touch up with a little clear and you should be good!
