I have a 2011 Tundra double cab TRD 4.6L 4x4. The truck did not come with a back up camera but the camera plug is at the rear above the spare tire. I purchased a used Toyota camera and display mirror on ebay with the intent of plug and play. When installed, no image appears. To test the camera and mirror, I disconnected both, installed it on another 2011 Tundra 5.7L, with no current camera, and worked perfectly. I plugged in the camera on my truck again and laid it in the truck box, and brought it to the dealer for troubleshooting. The mechanics evaluated the problem and said the truck is not wired for a camera. I find that unusual. My truck appears to be wired with the harness in place. With camera and mirror connected, camera placed on the box bed, and tonneau cover installed, tailgate down, when put in reverse, a blue screen appears on the mirror for 3secs and goes out. With tailgate up, camera in complete darkness under tonneau cover, when put in reverse, a black screen with highlighted lines appear and stay appeared. With two scenarios differing, I think there is some sort of signal going through, thus appearing to be wired for a camera. Any help resolving this would be great as the local dealer is no help. Thanks

Did you resolve this issue? I was going to order a backup camera for a 2011 but saw this, so I'm curious.

Not quite resolved yet. There are 4 wires going from camera to mirror. I have continuity on 3 of them. I tested the camera and mirror on a 2011 tundra 5.7L and worked perfectly. However mine is a 4.6L. My local toyota dealer is researching to see if the engine size is causing the problem, if not, there must be a connection problem on wire #4. I'm waiting to hear back from the dealer.

Interesting. Ours is a 5.7. I'd be curious to know what you come up with.

I'm of no help here, but that's what I'd call "Bird Box" Mode

Check out Camerasource for the rear camera & mirror if needed. I bought the Gentex mirror with LCD, Homelink, Compass, & Auto Dim with the camera for my 2010. It's all plug & play. You can buy separately. The Camera is great. Call them they can find what you need. I also found the camera tailgate latch for about $22 new on the bay. Works perfect.

That may be an option too. Where'd you get the camera & mirror?

I'm supporting the blue screen of death also bought a new camera that's not it chase the wire back to the spare tire everything seems okay working on going towards the front of the truck don't really want to pull apart the dash. Has anybody found a way to rectify the blue screen of death?

    SOLVED
When I purchased my truck it had the blue screen of death. I opened the rear tailgate and found that somebody had tried something unadvisable to get it to work, and had taken the plug off of the camera harness. I purchased a new camera and plugged it into the harness that goes to the passenger side and then down through the bottom of the tailgate. This did not rectify it.
Next discovered and I should have checked first the wire going from the tailgate to the truck(what I plugged the camera into). Mine had been snipped/broken by the tailgate, but I didn't see it at first because this wire comes out the bottom of the tailgate and then leads over the truck. You can see it easily in between where the tailgate and the body form a gap meet when you lay the tailgate flat. So, I replaced that harness it was pretty cheap around 60 bucks but it still did not fix the problem.

I then read that somebody had to push pins in somewhere and they got theirs to work. So with that in mind, I went out and tried doing the same to mine. No luck.

What I did find is a broken off pin at the main harness. I think the steps of diagnosis for this should be
    1. Check connection by pushing the wires on the harnesses into the connectors and see if there is a loose fitting
    2. Disconnect the harnesses and check for dirty connections
    3. Continuity check with a multimeter for the harness that goes through the tailgate to the body, and any other wire that may seem suspect.
I had a broken-off pin at the main harness that connected to the small harness I purchased that connected to the camera.
I ordered connector D32B4 from findpigtails.com. I soldered and heat shrunk it onto the main body wiring harness and bam SUCCESS!!!!
I hope this helps it sure beat running a bunch of extra wires the most common problem is probably that middle wiring harness between the camera and the main body harness, but check the connectors first.
