Alright boys and girls. I haven’t been in a tundra since 2018. Sold my 2005 with 190k on the ticker. I came to this thread because I had a lot of success with my 2005. I am debating at this time buying a 2010 Tundra Double Cab or a ford, help my soul. It’s the SR5 and the grade package. It currently has 85,000ish miles and listed for 16k. Tell me the Do’s and dont’s. I have posted the link for the truck below. Also any suggestions on pricing, longevity, upgrades. I’m all ears. thanks for the time folks.

Dbl cab Rock Warrior edition. Not a bad find. Ask for maint history, carfax and warranty. Check for cam tower leaks.

Rock Warrior Limited edition 4x4 package. Wheels are unique, shifter also maybe suspension. It looks clean and low miles. Price seems full retail but not awful. Verify KBB and NADA pricing.

KBB value is in line. Of course take on extended test drive and function check everything.

After further reading it was in a Minor accident. Not sure if that’s the reason for the pricing. I know tundras can last a lifetime so that’s why I’m inquiring.

Not terribly uncommon. They can be repaired well. If you have the details you could have a body shop take a look at it and verify repairs were done right.

136k on 2007 and runs like maybe 50k. Wouldn't hesitate to take anywhere.

I personally would not buy any vehicle thats been in an accident. Not sure what your budget is or your financial situation. If you have at least $15k cash, I would recommend a newer model or new. Some are offering 0% financing and you can use the cash to make money.

Currently I own a car that’s financed. I owe about $12k but the most I’ve been offered from a dealer is $10k. I pay about $300 a month but could probably realistically afford about $400-$500 a month on a finance. Maybe I’m over sharing. I’m a cop. Money is okay. Definitely don’t have that kind of cash laying around.

Have you driven a 2nd Gen Tundra yet? Put some miles on one to make sure you like it's size compared to your '05. Have you considered a pristine low mileage '05 / '06 to replace your '05?

To check for "Cam Tower Leaks" shine a flashlight from the front wheel well straight onto the motor at the block. If you see signs of oil seeping along the block junction, the gasket sealant is leaking. This can be very minor and a pain from the smell, but you lose very little oil between changes.

My last Tundra was a 2010. Loved it, which is why I bought a 2020. Besides never letting me down (except once when the 8 year old oem battery died and wouldn’t start my fault knew I was pushing it) loved the extra storage compartments, cupholder light, sliding arm rest, driver’s side grab handle, tow package, HD alternator in cold weather pkg, 2nd glove box. Loved the ride and space. Yeah it’s a pig to park but I didn’t use as a daily driver. Have it checked out good body and mechanicals.

Not an expert, LOL. Actually got real lucky with my purchase.
The Tundra not unlike most other used vehicles. If it runs and drives well, good sign. If it looks well taken care of, great sign. That low mileage is a plus.
I didn't think cam tower leaks were big issue on 2nd gens (07-13). Could be wrong.
Frame rust if from northern state where they salt roads.

As mentioned, drive it, park it, engage 4wd.
Do you really need 4wd? Gas mileage also not great, prolly 14-15 in town and maybe 17-18 hwy.

Also offer a bit less should be a little negotiable.

    Good luck!

Lots of entrys for maintenance is a great sign. 1 owner great sign.
Minor accident, lowest on scale not bad. From 2014, if there is/was an issue it should be evident by now. You could still have a body shop inspect that front corner. Parts probably replaced.

115,500 miles on my 2015 CM. Runs beautifully. Completed the 100k service on time and fully expect to be issue free based on the service report. Hoping I don't get laid off so I dont have to sell it. Painful thought but its on the table if need be!

The Rock Warrior wheels are pretty sought after in the Land Cruiser community (I have a Land Cruiser and peruse the forums--I bought a set of RW for mine and it took a lot of searching). Forged Al and 17". They are becoming very rare finds and if undamaged you could easily sell the set of 4 (wheels alone) quickly for $1000 and or wait a bit and get $1500 to even more. Though, keeping a RW edition truck original may make your truck more valuable.

Just for frame of reference, I bought my 2010 DC with 104k miles on the clock a little over a year ago for $19.5k, but mine came with a canopy and isn't a Rock Warrior. I bought it private party from the original owner and the guy had every single record of everything done to the truck. Pretty much any time he farted in it there was a document proving it. Anyway, that's definitely a low price for a Rock Warrior with that low mileage, so they are most-definitely shaving some money off for the accident history. I would be a little leery of the accident, but if you took it to a trusted shop and had them look it over first I'd feel a lot better. Good luck!

Not a bad looking rock warrior and the price seems fair to me considering what I paid for less miles. Also, I would not necessarily be scared away from the ''accident'' if you can get any details? I hit a deer and had to get a hood, bumper and headlight i'm sure that would come up on a history report of my truck.

    Drahthaar Transport Unit
If you look all the way through the photos, there are different trucks in there. I could be wrong, but I don't think the Rock Warrior comes in the Grade model. Run the VIN off the placard photo and see what you come up with.

The price for a 2010 with 80k miles seems very low. I'd be leery. There are good deals and then there are deals too good to be true.

Accidents are not necessarily a deal breaker for me. It all depends on what happened, who did the repairs, etc. I had a Dodge Cummins repaired that was very close to being totaled. Drove it for 7 more years without a single issue. It's stupid to automatically rule out a vehicle that has collision damage IMO.

If I were you I'd try to sell your vehicle yourself. If you're trading it in for less than you owe, that is no Bueno.

I think the dealership threw in some stock photos of a white Tundra that are not Rock Warrior. The shift handle is correct as are the wheels in the first photos.
