Hey all, I’m new to the Tundra world, and I’m loving my truck so far. It’s a 2010 Tundra CrewMax Limited 5.7L 2WD in Pyrite Mica with 125k miles. Two previous owners, clean carfax, most of the features I wanted, and a private sale to boot. It was too good to pass up. Completely stock except for a Magnaflow exhaust and a K&N cold air intake.

This truck is my daily driver (<3mi round trip commute) and will be used for family road trips with my wife, 2 year old daughter, and two dogs.

Since joining here, I have loved the looks of the Rock Warriors, but a) didn’t see any for sale when I was looking, and b) don’t really need a 4wd vehicle in the southeast, as I don’t plan on any real off-roading, so didn’t want to spend the extra money. A loaded Limited was the next best thing.

The day I brought her home

    Mods so far:
    • Rock Warrior wheels with powder coated rings and Michelin Defender LTX M/S 285/70/17
    • OEM Rock Warrior grille painted Pyrite Mica
    • ARE cap
    • TRD shift knob
    • OEM backup camera and rear view monitor mirror
    • Satin black vinyl wrapped rear bumper
    • Matte black mirror caps and door handles
    • Black badges
    • Tech12Volt Remote starter
    • Painted fake wood interior trim silver
    • Painted shifter surround black
    • Interior LEDs

Thanks to everyone here for all of the knowledge posted. It’s made modifying this truck for my purposes a lot of fun so far.

@Rube207 I had 2010 DC and loved the truck. I had a mid life crises and upgraded to a 2017 TRD PRO. Which I luv, but still have great memories with my 2010. Great truck, and was a huge jump forward for me in quality from my 2000 Ford Expedition.. How do you like having a top on the back. I have been thinking about investing in one, my bride doesn‘t like the idea but I see a great use on a daily basis.

I probably have the cap on about 50% of the time. I need to make deliveries from time to time, but have the cap on from a trip to the Great Smokey Mountains a few weeks ago. I like the versatility of the cap, but prefer driving the truck without it just a little bit.

    Thanks all!

Painted the ugly Limited fake wood trim silver. The shift knob was the only other thing that was “wood” and that was the first thing to go.

Thanks! Not sure about the center caps. I just bought the wheels from @Coldjustin, maybe he can shed some light.

Makes me miss my 2010. It was the same color with a topper and rock warrior wheels with the beadlocks painted black as well.

Local decal shop made them for me. Very inexpensive and they've held up great! Even drive thru car washes etc. I want to say it was $10 or so for all 4 of them. And they look much better than the corroded center caps.

Seen the truck in person before the wheels went on and it was a great looking truck then. It's looking great, keep up the good work! Hard to beat a clean 2nd gen Tundra! And that color is probably my favorite even though I drive a white one.

You're lucky the panel around your climate control wasn't wood grain. Mine is, I hate it.

What'd it cost to have the bumper wrapped? I'm considering it myself. About to order a white rock warrior grill. I had the rock warrior and had it how I wanted it

I wrapped it myself. It was a total pain in the ass, but I wanted to give it a shot. I’d give myself and 8/10 on the results, but fortunately most of the wrinkles are underneath where you can’t see them. I ordered 3M vinyl from Amazon. Took two 1’x5’ pieces @$15/ea.

You could probably find white vinyl that is pretty close to the color of your truck. No luck so far matching Pyrite.

Did you use a heat gun? Or borrow the wife's hair dryer? My wife does hair for a living and has some MEAN commercial grade hair dryers . How hard did the parking sensors make it? Just wrap then cut it out and push the sensors in?

I used a heat gun, but I bet a hair dryer would do the trick. Didn’t take much to make it real stretchy. Yes, popped out the sensors when I removed the bumper, cut the vinyl out of the holes and they went right back in on install.

The wrap will hold up very well on the back bumper. Wonder how it would do on the grille? I think I'll just order the painted rock warrior grille. But i could get enough vinyl to try my hand on the grille before I tackle the bumper. If the grille turns out good I can save 2-$300.

@Rube207 Since you already did the RW grille swap, do you know if the center part of it is removable? Can you put your old grille insert into the RW one?

Yes, I took the grille apart to paint the surround. It was a pain, but it worked.

I had previously tried to take apart my ‘10 Limited grille to paint, but the old
Plastic was a lot less flexible, and didn’t want to cooperate. I’m sure the grille inserts and surrounds are completely interchangeable with each other though.

Refreshed my suspension front and rear with 2019 non-TRD takeoffs (11k miles) that I bought from @glowblue. For the type of driving I do, on road 99% of the time, I thought getting rid of my shocks with 129k miles on them would make things a bit smoother, and until I have a little more money to spend, stock suspension will work just fine for me. I’ll report back on any noticeable improvement.

    13243553-3C84-40AF-A16C-EEADF0ED3119.jpg

Also put on a new serpentine belt, tensioner, and idler pulley. Used the Gates kit (90K39185) for $127 shipped from RockAuto. I was having intermittent squealing when starting after rain, and didn’t know the history of the belt that was on there. Everything was in better shape than I would have guessed, but I will feel better knowing the mileage on it.

Scored a used TRD rear sway bar from Craigslist. Can’t wait to see how it drives now.

I also got rid of the magnaflow catback and put on an OEM takeoff exhaust from @Dragracer_Art’s 2020. I still have the K&N intake and this is the perfect combo for me, as quiet as possible at idle and on the highway, but still throaty when you get on it. The magnaflow sounded great, but I didn’t like hearing it all the time.
