Doesn't the Auburn LSD have a clutch pack, so theoretically after a few years would we have to change them as it will loose its effectiveness? That's what is holding me back from considering it.

I think the PRO was created to virtually eliminate that kind of failure... I believe the TRD/KAZUMA LSD in my 2002 also has clutches, I've been riding it hard since 2003.

I am told that he Auburn PRO is compatible with the factory electronic traction system because wheel slippage is never detected, so the factory system never gets activated.

I said this about that... I was mistaken.

I said the standard resonator was incompatible with the shortened tail pipe, and that's true BUT...

Truth is, I did a shitty job of installing the cat-back. While I was installing the blocking plate that Keith sent me, I inspected my installation... the bolts on both ends of the cat-back weren't as tight as I thought they were and this caused leaks. I corrected my mistakes that day and drove with the blocking plate for a couple months, it sounded great but it was a little loud, and there was some drone at different RPMs. I have Neuropathy in both arms & hands, and this condition makes wrenching difficult. I can't always feel if I have tightened a bolt / screw enough, and I have over tightened to the point of breakage... it's easier for me to go back and tighten up what's loose.

Long story getting longer, today I crawled back under the truck and re-installed the helmholtz resonator that came with my @dirtydeeds cat-back. The difference is night and day, the system is much more civilized, it's quieter and there is no drone - none. Sadly, the exhaust burble is virtually undetectable now, and I will miss that sound.

Update: Keith sent me a new resonator that is 6" longer than the standard pipe, this longer resonator does a better job of killing the drone you get from shortening the tail pipe.

    IMG_7818.jpg

Bottom line, I am even more pleased with my BAMuffler :)

I just unplugged the steering angle sensor. If you can deal with the lights, it disables everything but ABS and you can just plug it back in if you feel like you want that junk back.

It’s in the column. Just pull the two cover screws and it’s one of the connectors under there (I believe it’s the smallest one in the rear but you may have to do a little research.)

That makes sense considering the first hint of sideways action with all nannies off still sets off the TC. And nobody can tune that peice out...

How I increased horsepower and torque on a budget.

DAP tune: 15-20 hp peak gain, and 20-30 low & mid-range power gain with 91 octane.

BAMuffler cat-back with single stock tail pipe: 3 to 10 hp, no loss in low end torque.

Drop in aFe Magnum FLOW Pro DRY S Air Filter: 5 to 10 hp, but only if the exhaust is freed up.

These 3 changes cost me about $1500 and they made a world of difference in how the engine performs... keeping the MAF clean ensures peak performance.

How are the tires holding up. I might get the same pair in 305/50R20 trying to get rid of my nitto 420s.

They are holding up well, they have about 4K on them and the tread is still deep. Make sure you have them load balanced, and rotate often.

292,222 mile chī-nēz′ virus update ... items I've added or replaced:

    S-V.4 LEDs, H11 and 9005
ZEVO LED bulbs in the courtesy lamps in brand new OEM lenses.
Newer OEM side mirrors with chrome caps, this killed the whistling problem.
New OEM wiper arm on the drivers side.
New OEM arm rest cover on the drivers door.
    Added OEM door sill protection.
OEM/TRD radiator cap with a slightly higher pressure rating.

I recently cleaned the MAF & throttle body, and the truck is performing great.

I picked up a set of BBS-FORGED alloys this morning, they are very light when compared to other factory alloys. I will mount them on my RCSB as soon as I procure a set of lug nuts. I don't care for the TRD center cap, does anyone know the part number for alternative center caps that fit these wheels? Something like the one pictured here would be great.

I noticed that as well when I switched mine. The lugs that you have for your current alloys should work, mine did.

I haven't noticed any other center caps, but knowing Toyota, there probably are and you'd just have to keep your eyes peeled. Maybe take a closer look at LCs, LX 570s and such that use the same bolt pattern. Maybe even aftermarket wheels with the same pattern.

The current set of lug nuts holding my SR5 alloys in place will work, but they are ugly with white paint on them. These BBS wheels deserve better looking lug nuts.

The Heritage Land Cruiser has these same forged wheels in Bronze... the center cap reads TOYOTA, but the ring & text are also bronze. I have contacted the company that makes the center cap to find out how I can disassemble the cap for painting.

These wheels and tires really improved the ride quality, well worth the upgrade.

Agreed. The little bit of extra cush from the taller sidewall and lighter weight....sweetness.
