    Aloha,

2nd owner of a 2006 Tundra and just broke my radio antenna. I am looking for a replacement.

I live on the Big Island of Hawaii and it is considered RURAL by all accounts. In fact, so rural that there are no radio stations south of me before you get to perhaps Antarctica. Even the southernmost McDonalds is north of me. We are very hilly (there are 14,000 foot volcanoes that block signals from the other side of the island).

So because of the mountainous terrain and the need to listen to the few stations available, I have to replace the antenna.

I only listen to FM and some stations 150 miles away.

At least one antenna mfg I see online states that their antennas do not work well in rural locations. Also short or stubby antennas don't work well because of our windy roads and the truck body an then block signals.

Anyone have a recommendation for a cheap, full-sized antenna that works well for FM?

Yes, I think an avocado tree took it out :) The base appears fine and I should be able to just unscrew the couple inch stub left.

Unscrew the mast off the base just to be sure. Once done, here you go....

    https://parts.toyota.com/a/Toyota_2...T-4WD/_52016_6706575/ANTENNA/841420-8604.html

Click "View Full Size" to see the exploded in all its glory. If you just need the mast, here is the part. MSRP is $60ish, since HI has no dealerships for pickup, there's a dealership in SFO that discounts to $35 if you buy through the Toyota Parts website. Or you could gamble on getting a counterfeit off scAmazon or fleaBay. At least on fleaBay you can see actual pictures.

Don't bother with aftermarket on this one. Seriously. And nothing stubby, they're shit for long range. If OEM worked, replace with OEM again. The few extra bucks is insurance this will work as it used to, the 1st time, without buying other stuff.

Sirius is not available in Hawaii by satellite. It appears you can stream it, but then again, cellphone coverage is spotty here.

Many years ago I kept getting automated calls from Sirius. They all came from various telephone numbers so I could not block them. Somehow they got my telephone number in their database from a previous customer \who apparently stopped paying them. I would call in, go through the phone tree and be asked for MY ACCOUNT NUMBER, which I didn't have because I was not a customer. They then asked what number they called. That was a problem because I have 10 numbers all pointing to my home number, and they did not want to look up each number. Finally they would say they found it and I would not receive any more calls. The next month it would start again. I was finally ready to sue them for harassment because I didn't have an account with them and they would not stop calling to collect a debt I didn't owe and could not figure out how to stop calling.

I will NEVER use Sirius, even if they do decide to put a satellite that serves Hawaii. But thanks for the suggestion.

Every legitimate stubby antenna manufacturer will tell you it's not suited for long-distance listening. OP pretty clearly indicated he's in Hawaii, and listens to stations up to 150 miles away, likely over some pretty wild terrain. That fly-by-night scAmazon stubby, whose company likely won't be around 2 years from now, would be lucky to pull a station 60-75 miles away...
