I have a 2002 Tundra that will not go into 4-Wheel Drive Low and I'm told that the tool for that job is 900.00 for the tool alone for the motor install for the 4-Wheel Drive motor. Thank You everyone...

You've tried actuating in neutral while rocking the truck back & forth? Might just need some love taps with a hammer. But none of the tools should be $900

Maybe try rocking between drive and reverse. Sometimes everything gets sticky when it hasnt been exercised in a while. Theres an actuator in the t-case and another in the front diff.

This ^^ and depending on where you live climate/corrosion wise, actuator contacts can get tarnished, etc.

I kinda wish we had a step-by-step on troubleshooting for 4WD. Maybe half a dozen things to try/check, tricks like what you just posted, @Mr.bee - stuff that's actually worked for others. I've heard the drive in reverse/forward several times trick, and I know it's worked for at least a couple of folks around here, as has tapping on the actuator while trying to engage 4HI.

I cant get tundra2's shortcut links to show up on my phone. But i'm pretty sure he had a shortcut to his actuator swap in his sig. its not in the crackhead resurrection directory, but im pretty sure its in that thread, with some decent pics to get an idea of what the 4x4 button is doing.
