This week I had to recover my son's old Mazda Protege from Munising, MI...over 200 miles north of where I live in Wisconsin...and make the drive in a snowstorm. (None of this was a choice, mind you...just the way it went). I admit I had some concerns about the lack of 4WD with the snow and the mostly 2 lane road route up there... The 2200lb trailer was easy enough to tow up...it was around 4800 lbs total with the car for the drive back.

The truck was a champ all the way. Traction control and anti-locks all worked perfectly and that combined with the fact I was intensely aware of the inherent limitations of the rig while driving got us back home after about 13 hours of driving round-trip (snow and bad winter road conditions basically all the way).

When looking at buying the truck a year ago, I had done some research and noted how many people just raved at how well these things tow, but didn't think much of it as I typically don't tow trailers much. I can now say I understand. Even in the crazy road conditions we had, towing nearly the same weight as the truck itself, the vehicle was very stable...power was fine (O/D off of course), and I had towed a bit with my older 2WD suburban before this vehicle...and I feel much better in the Sequoia.

    Happy to be home...
