My 2000 Tundra failed inspection because the lights on the bumper do not illuminate the license plate and shield stray light away from view. The lights are loose in the holes in the bumper and have been that way for years.

I looked at after market LED lights but the ones that say they fit the 2000 show a flat connector. Mine has two small prongs and two small corresponding slots for the prongs.

Mechanic sent me to a body shop and they want a hundred and forty to repair. I tried Toyota online but it is confusing and parts do not look right.

Area car parts stores have nothing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Only use the truck for kayaks and selling soon. Would like to repair cheaper than body shop if possible.

    Thank you.

Your light bulb light number is 168, any auto parts store should have the new Sylvania led mini led light bulb maybe even Walmart

It’s not the bulb that’s the problem but a cover that makes the light shine directly on the plate without the light bulb being visible to a car behind. The light can only illuminate the plate. I’m not sure if there ever was such cover but that’s what they’re telling me I need to pass. Have about 6 more days to try to pass again.
