Does anyone know the very best possible way to get the bolts out of starter on a 2000 tundra 4x4? I've gotten everything loose manifold out and down to starter. Now I've got one bolt toward passenger side loose which I could see. But from here its getting difficult.

    Subbed.

I've always wondered what kind job it was to change those starters.

Sorry I can't offer any support.

It would probably help if you could post some pictures for people to see. Can you do that?

Remove intake manifold and all hoses and wires from top of motor. Starter is underneath manifold toward back of motor/ firewall. I did it myself all day difficult job, I would replace 3 knock censors at same time so you don’t have to go back in there when they fail

I'm down to the starter, my question was, what's easiest way to get the starter bolts out?

A flex head fine toothed ratchet and a deep well socket is what did the trick for me. Took me about 3 hours for the whole job.

If I could get past the bar and that big wiring harness it may make things a bit easier.

It's been a few months since I did mine. But if I remember right you have to snake the ratchet down in there. It's a tight fit

Oh Man! Where were you six months ago when I was doing that job? I got to the starter and had to throw in the towel. I still curse those engineers who put that starter where they did.

Well got new starter on and everything put back together and it did not fix my problem. Still not doing nothing when turn switch. You can hear the starter whining but it just will not turn the motor over. The old starter was doing the same thing. It also has a new ignition switch. So I'm stumped as to what's going on.

yep bank account is running low from it..
sounds like a bad bendix in the starter... Take your old one to a parts store and have it checked see if it does the same thing as it did in the truck.

Do you have a broke tooth in the flywheel? Could you see the flywheel teeth with the starter out.
