Hey guys, need some help deciding on a lift for my garage. Im currently building a house that will have a 30'x45' attached garage. I have one section with a 10'x8' garage door that will be the bay for the lift. Im undecided on getting a 2 post or a 4 post with the bridge jacks. I do all my own work on my vehicles and am going to update my 2003 4Runner by pulling the body and either replacing the frame or removing rust and repainting. Just needing some help on options with lifts if anyone has any first hand experience they can share

    Thanks!

Thanks for the input. Im in West Virginia so I will be ordering online regardless of what I end up going with. I thought I was set on a two post but then started thinking about the benefits of the 4 post for storage.

You can store a car under a 2 post also.

For real work, the 2 post is usually better. Especially for what you intend to use it for.

4 post is better for large trucks, light duty work, or jobs that require weight on the tires/suspension. Some dont have to be bolted to the floor and you can get wheel kits for them to roll them around.

The 4 post is faster, just drive on and go. Easier to get in and out of the car. The 2 post takes longer, a couple minutes to setup and balance. Harder to get in and out of the car.

You can use the 2 post to lift other things like lifting the body off the frame, pulling engines, dropping subframes, hoisting heavy stuff out of your truck bed, anything that will fit. The 4 post is more limited.

If I had a garage with a thick enough concrete slab I'd get the 2 post.

Get the 2 post, you can lift anything from anywhere and is essentially like having some huge jack stands. A 4 post is like moving the floor up. Can't do this with a 4 post, or anything that involves suspension work or lifting individual parts of the vehicle.

Thanks guys. Definitely sold on the two post. Im going to b e pretty close with the height to get the posts set ceiling height is 12'2" roughly. Im doing a 6" floor so I shouldn't have any issues with the concrete.
