    Hi All,

I have a 2016 leased Platinum Crew Max Tundra. My lease prohibits me from putting bigger tires on the truck so I am using 275/55/20 Toyo Open Country AT/2's. I want to lift it 2 inches with spacers but I am worried it will look dumb with 275/55/20's. Hoping to get your thoughts on that. Anyone lifted on 275/55's?

Wait, your lease won’t allow bigger tires but will allow a lift?

Well, not exactly. But when it is time to trade it in or buy it out, I can pull the spacers out and put the stock tires back on and no one is any the wiser. If I go bigger with tires and don't reprogram the computer, which I was admittedly trying not to do to save some dough, it affects the mileage counter and makes it look like I drove it less than I did, which breaks the lease terms and the law.

In retrospect I should have bit the bullet and bought. Lesson learned for next time.

Shouldn’t look too bad, the pros have a 2 inch lift and it comes with the same size tires as a regular tundra

Just buy it at the end of the lease. You can probably flip it for a few thousand more anyways if you didn't want to keep it.

I dont think it would work out in his favor.
You still loose. I used to work for Toyota Headquarters in Torrance CA.

Also I have had many vehicles leased and purchased over the years. Buying a lease will not save you or make you money.

Why not? My lease just ended and I bought it out for $25k. I’m pretty sure I could sell my truck for $30-35k even if it were near stock. It won’t save money over buying it from the start but he was already in the lease. Buying it at the end of the lease is the next best financial option. Whether he keeps it or sells it.

I just look at the final cost over all.

buying out a lease has to be more expensive overall than if you had just bought the truck to begin with.

But the original question, you can look at a trd pro model for exactly what stock tires look like with a 2 inch lift.

The one thing you should consider is your 20 inch wheels. With less sidewall, the tires will appear very small with a 2 inch front lift. I would leave it alone if you aren’t getting bigger tires. Maybe do some coach builder shims for just a small adjustment?

Guys this post is a couple years old. And OP wasn’t asking whether he should buy or lease. He already leased it and was asking what he should do now. I’m pretty sure everyone knows it costs more to lease overall.
