I just noticed that this site is calling the 2014-2021 Tundra Models 2.5 gen, and no longer 3rd gen.
    Why?
What happened, and how this come about?

    2022 is 3rd gen.

TLDR; 2014-2021 has always been 2nd gen since it was just a heavy facelift. There was some debate over 2nd vs 3rd gen for the longest time, because one press release from Toyota briefly mentioned "3rd generation" on the 2014. Usually generational changes are a new platform and the 2007-2021 all utilize the same platform. 2022 marks the new TNGA-F platform and a new generation.

I was under the impression that 2019-2021 were 3rd get due to all the fitments on parts etc.
