Say, anyone try mounting one of those bed steps to a Sequoia 1G?

See that one mounted in front of the tire. Thinking that could make a cargo carrier more user friendly.
I've heard of guys finessing the Tacoma one to fit on their Tundra 1G.
    I wonder....

Hey guy, that's too much attitude for this thread. Us high society sequoia drivers behave better than that.

Your post only mentions a Lexus Rx, not at all related to a sequoia. You make no specific mention of trying a method from a tundra. having reread your post my suggestion stays the exact same. Look up tundra/sequoia programming methods and try that. Or perhaps you have the wrong fob (Amazon Chinese junk?). Factory service manuals can be found online. Good luck.

If you know you need to replace the actuator before it can be programed, why are you looking for help before doing that? And yeah.. when asking for help, lose the attitude and you'll get a lot better feedback.
    Good luck on the actuator!

I'd mentioned that I called dibs on a friends Sequoia that's about to be up for sale. I heard the new car had arrived, so I reached out.
They're not ready to sell it yet.
I figure that's a good sign. You only want to hold onto the good ones.

My 06 has developed a leak in the rear air suspension. Any good links to threads discussing this?

Reviving this thread to post I purchased my '04 4WD Sequoia back in December of 2020. I'm up around Pittsburgh area so it has been an interesting few years with Bev to say the least. OEM steering rack popped like a balloon Christmas of 2021 - the bushing wore out and the bracket rubbed through the steering rack housing. Swapped that myself Christmas eve. Just recently the OEM radiator blew up 1/4 mile from home - had that replaced with an OEM radiator and also had the timing belt done. This all happened at 185K miles. Luckily the engine was not damaged from that.

Other than that it has been normal wear & tear items; completely replaced rear hatch with metal handle and new OEM locking actuator. Now she actually fully locks! Just swapped out rear calipers with calipers from a 2017 Lexus GX (love that Toyota uses the same parts almost 15 years later!). Just did front endlinks and holy hell were they rough. Ended up using a combination of angle grinder and recip saw to get the old boys out and new ones in. The frame is in pretty good condition. Just hoping rust doesn't destroy the body. I would like to have this for at least 4-5 more years and 100K miles. Such an amazing truck. Cars/trucks just don't last long enough up here in Western PA.

You've got a lot of life left in it!
I've done almost everything you've done, still on the original radiator with 165k miles.
I'm thinking about changing it out before it decides to go.
    Let's see it :D

Ya I felt very luckily - temp gauge pegged about 5 seconds before I pulled into the garage. Was able to get it towed to a Toyota dealership. The bill was not very fun for new rad + timing belt. I would have done it myself but just felt like being so close to 200K and the OG timing belt being done around @ 90K that it was just easier & quicker to have them do everything at once. I have a beach trip planned in September so she'll be making the 10 hour journey to Holden Beach in NC. Glad she'll get to see the ocean haha.

What size tire are those? It looks so good. Am I crazy or is it easier to fit 35's on the Best Gen Sequoia than a Tundra?

nope. Went radio silent. Saw them at a thing once since - I didn't bring it up & they were a little weird, so let it go, called it done.
They'll be another one with a good history. Being patient.

Something to keep an eye on, loose spoiler mounting bolts.
10mm flange nuts behind rubber plugs, 2 were loose and one was gone!

Dang thing is still for sale. Just calling me.

Trying to figure out 2004 vs 2005-7.

Wiki says the main differences are
    Engine
    Power output
    • 240 hp (179 kW; 243 PS) (2001–2004)
    • 282 hp (210 kW; 286 PS) (2005)
    • 273 hp (204 kW; 277 PS) (2006–2007)
    Transmission
    • 4-speed automatic (2001–2004)
    • 5-speed automatic (2005–2007)

Looking at center dashes on ebay to figure any other differences

The rear fan button becomes a Shift Lock button. Can I assume shift lock was available in 2004, just on the shift knob like the Tundra?
The VSC Off button seems to be gone in 2005. Did it move, get handled in some other upgrade, or ability was removed?
    -2004 have the 4WD button. 2005- has 2WD/4HI button & 4LO button.
2005 seems to have gotten a height control switch, so does that mean airbags started in 2005?

I'm trying to figure out what I'd be missing out on with that 2004 vs. a 2005 +

    Shift lock?

Mine looks a little different than both of those dash pieces.
    I've got a manual 4hi/4lo shifter.

I'm sure you know this but the 04 has the transmission dipstick and the 05 is "sealed".

Ours is lifted on heavy 33's and while more power would always be nice, I'm not wishing it was an 05+. The 4.10 gears get that heavy girl up and moving just fine, smooth shifts too.

Have a chance to buy a 2002 Sequoia SR5, 4WD. Dry Central California car, 0 rust, 279K miles. Owned by a farm owner who used it to commute, no heavy pulling and serviced by his fleet mechanic who bought it from his boss last year. Has recent TB/WP job, OCIs every 5K with Dino oil. Newer Bilsteins, good tires, no body damage, sunroof and clean cloth interior. Asking $5.5K OBO which is high book for good condition private party sale from KBB. White so no clear coat fade.
    Thoughts appreciated

Sounds like a deal to me, probably a little room to talk him down.
Drive it and make sure the trans is smooth, good luck!

it's 21 years old & 279k miles. It's old & used, so I'd go in with appropriate caution.
That said, I'd look closer, if it's truly been cared for then it's nothing to be worried about. I'd pay that money for that rig.
Definitely crawl under & look it over, farm rigs tend to get dirt up under & dirt holds water that rusts stuff between the L&R rocker panels. Good Luck.

oh - last thought, Sequoia's are really under valued. Look at a Tundra of same year & miles, 5.5 is a bargain for a Tundra, which is the same vehicle mostly.

@NWPirate, It sounds as though it's been in good hands. Look it over and offer less even if it checks out. My .02 cents is that 5.5 is on the high side for year and mileage.
