Yeah I think I'm gonna weld them all up without step plates at first and then kinda see how I like them. Then from there - I can add some diamond plate if I want. A lot of the reason I'm doing this is to help my wife and kids get into the truck easier, so I'll prob see how it is working for them. Cool thing about the steel-it paint is it is weldable, so you could in theory add that plate a little later without having to mess up the existing paint too bad...

Where we're looking is really close to shore, a little ways south of Belfast, and sandwiched on the west/north sides by mountains, and ocean less them a mile east, which makes for a great microclimate that's nowhere near as harsh as other places. There are surprisingly quite a few pockets in Midcoast Maine like that. While Boston was getting hammered with 18-24" snow and blizzard, we got 7", and half of it blew away within 24-36 hours. It's weird, but ... not complaining. The winters that were notorious up there every other year 20, 30, 40 years ago are, at this point, once every 7-10 years according to the locals. They said this year was "brutally cold, like an old Maine winter", but it really wasn't that horribly bad, to be honest. I also like wearing long sleeves and jeans though, so I dunno.

Good fishing. Skiing nearby during season. Hiking all over the place. Ocean. Harbor. Outdoors. Friendly people. Flow-controlled river in our backyard. Never much traffic. All of this is stuff we can't have in ATL.

ATL has a similarly good food scene, the one thing I'll miss will be music scene, having a really awesome venue a stones throw away, but ... weird shit happens up there also, and randomly.

I was born in Ohio but spent my formative years in Boston. I haven't been back in nearly 46 hrs. Still stay in touch with some of my oldest friends. I definitely could not tolerate the weather. My candy-ass loves the sun and regular warmth

Looking for a Tacoma for my buddy. I've never really shopped for Tundras or Tacomas since, well, I already have one.

I knew there were a lot of bad frames up here but I didn't expect it to be this bad. One in four trucks for sale has major, structural, cancerous rust. It's ridiculous. I now get it why we see so many "opinions on this frame??" posts. All of these trucks are clearly being driven around, probably with very compromised safety.

I know how much you like using your hand tools. Go to town on the rung with your hand saw. Make one cut in the middle and use a hammer to blast em out of the rails. Just what I would try for 2¢.

Edit: NVM, I see the insides also have a lip.

Basically the same as looking for a first gen Tundra. LBJs and frames fail and rust. First gens are also in higher demand and clean ones cost a premium. If he's not in a huge rush, I'd recommend looking at southern trucks or even west coast trucks where they haven't spent their lives covered in salt.

There's nothing wrong with the A-pillar, BTW. The windshield cracked when the triangular end nearest the windshield was "folded" into it, thus the cracked windshield. Anyway...:D

Some old boy from Texas was next to us the other day at the NASCAR races and gave me and my lady 4-5 pounds of smoked turkey, smoked sausage, brisket and pulled pork to take "home" with us. Just now finishing it. Lol.

I'll reiterate, native Texans are some of, if not the most hospitable people you will ever meet.

You were camping out in the inner circle watching NASCAR with the other nomads?

If so, that’s so cool! I’d love to be able to sit out there on the roof of a RV with a lawn chair watching the race go around me.

Dude, I became a tenderfoot after 1 yr in Ohio. I was able to walk around barefoot here until dusk when scorpions come out. I'm trying to toughen them up again and they feel like they're on fire.

50s today. Unfortunately, nobody told the wind that and it cut through me like a knife at lunch. Felt like 30s when the wind blew.

Not looking good with low 40s temp all week and raining when it’s not.

May not apply to us, because I don't think there are any TRD parts, and doubt there are any GR parts for us, but ... maybe good for someone like @empty_lord who has GR stuff on his modernization project cars.

I've got one of these in both my vehicles. These auto-connect to Bluetooth after initial connection and load CP/AA quickly.
    https://a.co/d/0cwnPcvX

I'll also add that both the headunits in my vehicles already have wireless CP/AA built-in, but I use these adapter dongles because they auto-connect every time.
