I used to own a 1988 Ford F250 extra cab Centurion. 460, ZF 5 speed manual, 4x4. It was a pretty cool truck. It had their dually conversion on it as well. Kinda kicking myself for selling it.

Come on over to the dark side! Swap all the suspension and parts from the ac to the dc. When your third comes along, one might be out of a car seat and can most likely fit in the middle. Won’t a raptor or crew max be limited for 3 as well? We have one on the way and only plan on 2, so the DC is staying. Momma wants another forester or ascent and I’ll upgrade to a gx470 or 460 as a daily besides driving the matrix to bases during fire season.

Crewmax is decently larger inside than a FGT DC.

If the 460 is in the cards I highly recommend it especially one with 3rd zone climate control. The climate controls in the screen vs physical knobs does piss me off though haha.

The wife's GX460 is the family hauler, but with the current situation I have no room for a second car seat. My trucks have always been our camping rigs and we split daycare pickup/dropoff it just makes sense. Should have mentioned that I need a pickup for work as well. More of a me problem than a we problem lol.

I'm not pressed to buy a truck right this moment so I have the luxury of waiting for the "right one". In my head I'm willing to pay for a good example, but there's a price that makes more sense to just get a 5.7 truck.

We moved from a 1980 280 ZX to a 1986 Cherokee to a 1992 Suburban as we went from zero to three kids. Get something with a third row seat. Put the kids in the third row and fold the middle row down.

We have 3rd row, but the trunk is useless after the 3rd row goes up. If we have to go bigger I think we'll wind up with a Sienna hybrid lol.

I'm in a similar position but we're stopping at 1 kid. I'm still unsure what's going to happen with my AC. I can fit a single car seat but getting her in it is awkward. Riding in the back seat with her doesn't look fun but we've yet to try it.

We've decided we'll get my wife a 2022-2023 GX460 next but unsure if we'll keep our 2012 RAV4 or sell it. It's not aging as well as my truck. Noticeable difference in quality.

From your list, there is no way I'd buy a Ford. We keep our vehicles a long time so it's only Toyota or Lexus for us.

Is your RAV 2WD or AWD?

This is what they gave us for a rental in Boston. Got a lot of road time with it rolling up to Maine. With the turbo, it drives strangely almost identical to the mid-2000s VW Passat with turbo, sounds and everything. I had instant flashback to driving thru Europe for work BITD. Waaaaaay too many nanny features. Auto-braking options galore. Lane shift alerts. Too many driving modes. And they all have acronyms I dunno what they’re for, so I have NFC how to turn it all off w/o cracking open a manual.

Pound for pound a lower mileage 5.7 gets me into a little higher mileage raptor which has proven reliability. Not Toyota quite as reputable as Toyota, but definitely not consistent with Ford’s issues in their other trucks. Nothing is staying stock, but the non Toyotas listed get me more performance for less money from a suspension standpoint which is really what I enjoy most.

    2WD.

Is that the new 4Runner? I'm not interested in any of Toyota's turbocharged engines.

Headlights (in case not in auto-on position), seat position, washer fluid w/wipers, blinkers, radio and navigation are the only things I concern myself with for any rental. Unless it’s got 4wd and I need to use it.

All other features are just background noise to me.

Until you're losing a quart every 500-1,000 miles, I'd roll with it. Maybe go to a thicker oil to slow the leak.

I actually did thinking I may have torqued them incorrectly when I replaced the spark plug tube seals and they're the correct torque. I'll have to clean it all up when I get back home where it's warmer and see exactly what's up.

I'm not looking to recoup anything because I know that's not going to happen. I will, however, be asking a fair price for what it is.

A pristine frame with all the OEM or better replacement parts that cover all the known failure/trouble points on the engine, trans and chassis of these trucks is surely worth $6k. I mean, if one were to replace the frame alone, that's $3k or so from a dealer. Add everything they'll surely try to get an owner to replace and the bill will probably be closer to $5k. I've got all that in a package ready to roll and all the bugs sorted out. Seems fair to me. I'll be making a long list of everything replaced.

So the vehicle isn’t considered salvage with all that body work required? I’m surprised. I thought your insurance would’ve totaled it out for you.

I never filed a claim. I was pretty certain they would. I'm certainly willing to be reasonable about the price, but I won't be selling it for, say, $1,500. I can afford to sit on it until market demands for these trucks and their parts increases.
