You don't want to blast the undercarriage if you had it undercoated with some sort of lanolin, except maybe if you use WoolWax which is pretty thick.

I’ve found that the PB Blaster SurfaceShield is really tough to wash off. I run my truck through a car wash with underside sprayers and I pressure wash the bottom of my truck too. Stuff is still there.

It's there but not as much and if you keep doing it the less there will be present to do it's job. Personally, I don't think it should be done during the winter season because the undercoating is doing it's intended job and not allowing the salt to reach the frame. However, the more you blast the undercarriage, the less product is available to do it's intended job. This becomes even more important if you use the can (a much thinner product) to apply the undercoating vs a spray gun applicator, which does a much better job applying the product and getting into nooks and crannies. To me blasting the undercarriage defeats the purpose of applying an undercoating. Now, once the winter ends and salt is gone it can be done since most likely you will be reapplying the undercoating. But, I've been on this earth long enough to know there's a difference between the need to something and the want to something. Just One Man's Opinion.

I've been pretty lucky with mine. Bought it 7/19, been drained and jumped more than a handful of times, 1200w of power draw, and infrequent driving. The poor battery even started my truck at 10 degrees after sitting two weeks. I'm not gonna give up on it till it gives up on me.

I'm seeing too much electrical squirrely shit on mine to ignore it any longer. The slow starts when cold, my flickering LEDs inside the truck, and the radio rebooting itself when the voltage gauge drops below the halfway mark, it's time. Better to do it now than when I'm stranded, but I also don't want to fry my new(ish) Alpine.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it turns out my crank position sensor volt spike problem, and my jumpy voltage gauge suddenly both go away with the new battery. Not counting on it, but hoping it comes true.

@shifty` - dude sorry to hear about your electrical woes. Keep us posted. During the bomb cyclone last weekend noticed my wife’s Suburban alternator making some bearing growl (340K miles) so I ordered one from the Rock. Denso was less than Delco but core was higher so I ordered Denso because I just trust them. Arrived today but the FedEx dude left it gon the porch in the pouring rain. Inner box (STS) was ok so all should be good.

I typically used Delco in all my GM vehicles after work moved me to ATL from FL. I had a connection @ gmotors.com back when it sold GM parts for one of the dealers in GNV FL, we built and hosted their website back in the mid-late 90s - early 2000s, and they gave me OEM parts at-cost as a 'thanks', which was cheaper than retail parts at the store.

Hopefully the electrical woes are done. Man, I'd really love to spend some time breaking down the harness and replacing all the power wires going from fuse - batt - alt, but in looking at the harness, that's a 5-6 hour job to do cleanly. I don't fully trust the wires are clean after what I found a while back.

I got to drive a coworkers third gen trd pro today. As I think about it, the only other new vehicles I have driven in the past couple years have been Freightliners and F750s, and a newer chevy 5500.

Man things have come a long way from my 2006. I don't have 70k laying around, I don't want a payment, and I wouldn't want the reliability issues looming over my head, but it rode and handled great and had tons of power. It was fun to drive, and the crewmax cab is huge. It almost felt like a bigger cab than the chevy 5500 crewcab. Again, I don't have a lot to compare to.

My coworker definitely seems worried about the engine issues. It would be a huge bummer to drop that much cash and not be able to fully enjoy it cause you're anxious it might blow up.

Decided to buy an open box GoPro 11 mini for $90 w/4 year GeekSquad plan for $25 extra to use as a debug tool for my abnormal tire wear issue. I always seem to have some side-to-side movement of the tire causing premature scrubbing on one side. Hopefully by attaching the GoPro to the front bumper I can see and record it. Will post video if I see the problem.

I suspect when the SpaceX-xAI merger happens, you’re going to see something really wacky happen. 1.5T valuation for something generating 6B-8B in revenue, IIRC? Coffee hasn’t kicked in so going from memory there, but … Is there even any air left to pump into this balloon?

Side note, I applied for a role @SpaceX recently. I’m sure I won’t get it, but if you don’t shoot your shot …

My gut says there will be a lot of broke bag-holders crying. I didn't want to be one of them. I bought 40 of them years ago at ~$500/ea. when they were still kind of a novelty. I smile now in hindsight.

Just noticed I put 6M-8M instead of 6B-8B. Updated.

I'm curious how they're taking something averaging 6-8B/yr revenue, combining it with something with annual loss, and the valuation is 1.5T --- I can't wrap my head around the rationale other than "we're just throwing bullshit numbers out" or "there's another pump and dump scheme underway".

EDIT: I also understand this is probably somehow linked to the payout deal Elmo was trying to get, but I'm not up to snuff on all those shenanigans to spout off details.

Simply put, valuation is based on what similar companies are valued at by investors. Therefore, we can say confidently that SpaceX's valuation is high in investors' minds compared to competitors.

I posted a while back about my employer having to cut $188M out of their budget and the prospect of a layoff. Got the news today, my job is safe. Several of those around me weren't so lucky, and at least one is getting drunk on his lunch break as I type this (he can retire in a couple months, and the cuts don't go into effect until July anyway, so forced retirement for him). Several other departments are being gutted though, but won't know the specifics about them till next week. Just wanted to follow up on my previous post.

With that kind of weight savings it probably gets better than previously advertised gas mileage ;)

I never trust any of the numbers for his companies. I remember reading that Starlink is the biggest customer for SpaceX, and when Tesla ended up with parking lots full of Cybertrucks they couldn't sell, he had SpaceX buy them all to use as work trucks. The phrase "house of cards" comes to mind for some reason.

Then there's his current idea of sending servers into low earth orbit, because AI absolutely loves extra latency, and having to harden everything for the extra radiation is going to really help keep costs down. Even dumber than when I think it was MS that was trying to stick data centers underwater in the ocean for cheap cooling. Here, found a link that tears apart the idea way better than I care to. If any single human has the ability to turn low earth orbit into a giant debris field and shut down space exploration in our lifetimes, I'd put hard money on Musk pulling it off.
