It would be interesting to see some real world pulls when comparing the two (with 4.10s in the early model and 3.90s in the later).

The easiest way would be to buy two stock DC's (an 04 & an 05-06) with the same options. Make a YouTube video to recoup losses

If i buy ANYTHING that has a $100,000 price tag on it, no matter how ugly it is, i'll think of every excuse in the world on how good it looks...just like everyone else who will buy a brand new tundra.

More expensive than wearing a paper bag over your head, but it’s well worth it to save face.

If I ever can afford a $100k vehicle, I hope it's a used Lexus LFA.

I'd rather buy an RV on an E350 or E450 chassis or something. With a full bath and HVAC. For $100k, if I can't live in that thing in a pinch, then I don't need it.

Guess everything has its quirks....Based on my quite limited small engine knowledge, think I would have to rate the ones during my lifetime as follows:

    1. Damn near anything Honda
    2. Toyota 22R
    3. Volkswagen 1600cc flat 4

WTF warrants 95 grand for that truck? Does it rub your feet while you drive? Better be Salma Hayek rubbing my feet for that kind of cash.

I've been looking at the Capri flare tool, but thinking of spending a little more to get this one, it has a bunch of dies. I don't have a recommendation on a fitting kit, but I know that there's a few fittings on our trucks that are partially threaded.

Time to install back massagers in your seats, then wire that thing up to turn them on.

I bought an Eastwood brake line flair tool about 3 years ago. It’s pretty rad. I can perfectly flair a brake line in about 15 seconds.

    https://www.eastwood.com/profession...rHpc8nTmaRxSBuTTxGIF4lwEps6xzUcYaApcwEALw_wcB

I also bought a separate AN flair head and some other bits and pieces too.

Yall's center consoles (not to mention overhead consoles) are way cooler than ours. But AC (possibly RC) have one thing y'all don't have.

Y'all DC weirdos, heated mirror controls next to the radio, power mirror adjust in the center console. WTF was Toyota smoking?

The Sequoias also came with auto-dimming side mirrors. I bought a set of Sequoia doors, partially for the brains on both to see if I can get auto-down on the passenger side.

Hey tundnerds. Been gone for a while. Had some job stuff going on (lost it) and been busy trying to track down options.

I’m trying to use this time to get some maintenance done. I’m good about tire rotation, oil, and greasing my shaft every 5k, but I know I need to start working on other oil/fluid changes. I know about this schedule https://www.tundras.com/threads/tundra-maintenance-guide.315/ but I’m not really sure how to prioritize these. What would y’all say the most important to least/not at all important order is? I haven’t done trans, t case, diff, brake, coolant since I got the truck in summer 2023 with 180k on it. Truck now has 205k. (Before anyone asks - LBJs were done 5k ago and timing belt was done 40k ago).

Also - been having an intermittent P0430 code. I talked to a mechanic cousin of mine who told me you can use purple power to clean out old cats. I was thinking about taking them off, corking one end, then soaking them with purple power overnight and rinsing them out to see if that helps clear the code. Anybody tried this?

I did soaked my cats in purple power to clean them out. They were completely oil soaked. I never got around to testing to see how well it worked or not since i had a second pair of cats to use instead.

Probably coolant in my opinion if you don't know when it was changed last. That stuff can get nasty and do some damage if neglected for a long time. Pop the top and see what it looks like.

I like the compatibility with Sequoia’s. Think that will become more and more valuable the older these trucks get. Granted a lot of the stuff isn’t, but my 2004 seems to share a lot with early Sequoia’s. I can find 6 Sequoias within 30 miles of me just right now in various LKQ yards.

I'd replace the O2 sensors before doing anything with the cats. The code just means it's reading below the threshold, but the bad reading could be and usually is because the sensor isn't working correctly. Get a denso senso from rock auto.

I ordered new front and rear shocks Bilstein 4600 and a spring compressor. What else, if anything, do I need?

If your old ones are rusty, a sawzall and a handful of metal blades. Start spraying penetrant on them now, especially the top shock mounts in the rear and the 3 nuts on the top of each shock in the front. The lowers front and rear are big and easily accessible so you can hit them with a big gugga gugga gun if you've got one, or a breaker bar should work too.
