In town now, got a couple taps and 5mm bits, and new bolts m6 x 1.o x 25mm. Flanged same size, but 8mm (EDIT: 8mm hex heads). It'll do donkey, it'll do.
Got a pilot hole all the way through so close to center I can't tell if it's off. Worse case it becomes a 1/4 × 20 , and plan C will be a nut on the bottom :burp:

A little trick I learned if you have the patience is to spray penetrant at the valve cover screws after a long drive. Mine come out easy peasy after spraying them 10 times while hot.

A little late for that idea I suppose though.

Right, I had another stubborn one I had to ease in and out 20-30 times, no problem. Then this one I was proceeding the same and I barely got going and SNAP. Someone had mangled it prior to me and it was on its last leg. Appears original seals. Plug tube seals Def never been touched, tangs are pristine.

They probably twisted the bolt head enough to say “ that’s enough for me; I give up”.

I'd do antiseize, you'll see the oil leaking out if it starts coming loose.

I seem to be playing whack-a-mole with fluid leaks. Got the front oil seal replaced during the summer and now it appears the radiator has a minor leak in some part of the upper hose fitting. I wiped off the driver side of the fan shroud and all around the radiator cap then ran a few errands. There is a small puddle of coolant (yellow arrow) in the little trough just under where the upper radiator hose connects to the radiator.
You can also see where it has dripped all they way down to the oil filter. It's not obvious to me if it's the hose or the radiator fitting itself. Thinking of replacing the hose for grins and hoping that fixes it. Any suggestions?

It looks like a pretty tight fit and it looks like it shouldn't leak. I'd check to see if the plastic housing was cracked where the hose clamps on to it, if you don't have a split in the hose.

    Look at this Manicas :bananadance:
    20251031_152707.jpg

The 3rd bit right before the correct sized one felt like it lined right up and popped some of the broken bolts threads out on the way through.
Tap felt a bit like it was chasing instead of cutting. Nice and easy slow roll.... no problems
75% of this job is scrape clean scrub wash. I'm not polishing them either, they were just filthy on the outside.
Ran the shopvac beside my razor everywhere except some of the bottom portion
Happy with the cleanness I see. Remember, I was a short tripper when I was working, and I had seen some booger snot in the fill cap b4.

The real testimony to the engine will be mine when I get the covers off. Over 20 years of 5 mile drives to/from working in some of the coldest and crappiest weather around with 5k synthetic oil changes.

Iknowright, I was cringing when I pulled the first one.
Same with my coolant passages too, super clean. I switched it back to pink/or red from the green when I did the new rad, not sure if that helped it?
I ran seafoam in the crank case 1 time, but it had to have been clean before that.
Makes me pretty confident she can make it beyond 300k. I have put just shy of 10k on it myself.
Technically I think it has 300K on it due to it having 265s on it when I got it. +3.6% distance traveled

Sounds like my front suspension on both trucks. Though it's worse on the 06, and it was serviced/swapped most recently. I've just learned to accept they're both race trucks now.

@KNABORES @shifty` and any other master pluggers, when a tire is repaired it’s either a plug or a patch, correct? Or is there a hybrid plug/patch? My spare is leaking thru a plug so I was going to try and pull or push the plug out and replug. Is there anything special I need to do? A buddy recommend double plugs with glue
