I’ll be there today and tomorrow. If I can break away and it works out (no work stuff gets in the way) tacos on me, you name the place. If you’re not busy prepping for Merus and what not. It’s a long shot either way

I'm convinced a lot of people don't understand how bidding on fleabay works. You give fleaBay your highest bid, the maximum amount you'll pay. fleaBay doesn't bid that amount, of course, but they'll continue to auto-bid you to [highest current bid +1 increment], and continues to auto-bid [highest current bid +1 increment] until someone bids higher than your highest bid, at which point it bids the item up to [highest current bit +1 increment] for whoever outbid you. When you're bidding and you get auto-bid out, if you look at the bid history, you'll see whoever has the highest bid show up 1s after your last bid at [+1 increment] higher than your bid, but the date of their bid will IIRC show up as the same time as their original bid, i.e. back in the past.

fleaBay operates on NIST, to the second. The trick to bidding and winning on fleaBay is to have a NIST clock open, or watch the realtime update in the bid window, and cick to bid with your highest acceptable amount you're willing to pay when the clock is at 57s on NIST time (i.e. 3secs remaining), with the understanding that one of two things is going to happen:
    1. You're going to win the item for [someone else's highest-possible-bid +1 increment], and because you submitted with 3sec left, by the time the auction updates, the other bidders will have less than 1sec left to up their bid, which is virtually impossible
    2. Someone else who already bid with a highest-possible-bid that was higher than yours by any number of dollars or cents is going to beat you by [your-highest-possible-bid +1 increment], which may appear to you as if they bid 1cent higher, if a penny is the increment (sometimes it's a penny or dollar or whatever)
But it's risky. You need to be 100% cool actually paying that max-bid amount you give fleaBay, and don't go bidding foolish ass numbers like $1,000 on an item you can get brand new for $100. I've screwed a couple of people that way, taking what was a $10 item at the time I bid, which would've closed out at $50-60, and because they put in a max-bid of $150+, I've caused them to pay in the triple digits on a double-digit-valued item because I really, really wanted that item and was willing to pay a substantial amount more than what the closeout value was on other similarly closed (recently closed) auctions for the same item.

I feel like "e-snipe" bid process is just something people toss around as an excuse for losing. I have no doubt some folks out there probably use scripts to bid (I'd have to do it myself, I'd never use a service online, because I'd never give someone my eBay credentials to bid on my behalf), but it's really overkill, you just need to be present in the last 15 seconds of the auction to stage your max-bid and submit 3sec before auction end on a stable internet connection to have the best possible chance, and you never need to question if that script is going to screw you over by over-bidding.

Yeah, for some reason I couldn’t see the rebid done by the same person who was already in the lead. They upped their bid by $0.51 when their original bid was $20.50, only $0.50 higher than my original bid of $20. I saw the $20.50 and bid $21 thinking they’d wait until after I upped mine. I guessed wrong. Oh, well.

That last second bid by me was done 6s prior to EOB but it took 5s to update. I thought I won and then realize the higher bid was done 3 minutes before I did mine. Huh?

Sid wants Tyler's BBQ for lunch. I'm down.
    Any good?
That pizza place we got for Panhandlemonium was good. I'd be open to that or Big Texan or whatever for dinner though. I should get into town around lunch and I won't have to work again til 1900 on Tuesday. So I might spend some time exploring Amarillo.

I really like a headlamp because it's always pointed where I'm actually looking. I use a Milwaukee hard hat lamp, I just crank it down to fit my big hardhead
Same exact lamp I used at work for years (which allegedly could be a coincidence) :burp:

Is it advertised as “tactical”? That’ll add $10k to the price alone.
