hey everyone. I searched to see if I could find an answer with no luck so not sure if it has been answered, but I wanted to replace my bump stops with superbumps mainly because one is missing. Well the threads are still in the truck so is there any way to access them from the top? Looks like the frame is around it with no luck to get to it. I rather not drill and easy out it since they are rusted to hell.

I doubt the threads are long enough to stick up far enough to reach. Likely the entirety of the threads are hidden in the frame at this point.

I know there is a way to get at them potentially. I think if you go in from the back there might be a way to get them. I think I did this when I sprayed mine with PB blaster before replacing.

You’d need an angle drill to get up in there unless you take off the LCA which would give you a straight shot with a regular drill.

This sounds like a difficult task.

I looked around and still couldn’t find a good way in. guess it’s drilling.

I knew it would have to be an angle drill. Thankfully I have a lot of experience drilling and using easy outs (successfully). I’m hoping I can at least get enough room to get pressure on the drill. That will be my go to at this point and hoping it does easy out. If not next option looks like drilling the same size and retapping it.

Good luck. It doesn't sound fun. I think at that point I'd probably be using a hole saw or plasma and just cutting the old nut off and welding a new nut plate on. Not that it's easier, but I'd have more confidence in not extracting the stud from below. Hopefully your truck has less rust than mine.

Only the most aft of the frame has a lot of rust, the front has just small bits and pieces like the lower UCAs are slightly brown. The bolts for the bumpstops are rusted off hence the breaking of one. The rest of the frame is still in good shape with factory paint so I’m going to preserve what else I can.

Sounds like you have a pretty clean frame then.
