With a 3/1 kit, new wheels are almost always the next mod to come. Would you keep the 18" size or up it to 20"? How does price play in your choice?

Agree with 18's on lifted trucks. I like the look of more tire rather than more rim, but to each their own.

I went 3/1 kit with 295/70/18's. I downsized from 20 to 18 and glad i did. Rides much better.

17s or 18s for off road, tires and wheels are cheaper. 20s for street queens for less sidewall flex and better cornering. But why stop at 20s? 22s for real cornering.:crapstorm:

I want 18s. Only reason I have 20s is because I wanted the BFGs that came on TSS. I was going to get a TRD OR but the tires swung me to the TSS. I always said nothing bigger than 18s on a 4x4.

    Are you country or baller?

    295/70R18 or 305/55R20

At least 18+ wheel offset or higher to avoid chopping

Old rule of thumb for off roading...........tires should not exceed twice the diameter of your rim. 17's would be better for running 35s than 18s. More sidewall and flotation when aired down. I'm already good to go with my 18" FN's but if I had to do over it would be 17s in a heart beat. IMHO.

Thanks for the info. I think this falls under the plus two sizing, correct? I remember when I had a 90' CRX back in the days and everyone was running 18s but the wheel camber was all jacked because stock was 14s. I only did plus two and ran 16x7 and it was all good with even tread wear. Funny enough I still have those rims in the garage. Old school BBS RX 16x7 4x100 made in Germany rims over 25 years old. Wife hounding me to get rid of them. LOL. Thanks again for the valuable info Matt!

    Cheers!

Wheels and tires are less expensive in the 17s. Not all 17s work on our trucks though so check carefully before buying.

If FN would’ve had those 17” BFD lookalikes back when I was looking, I’d of likely bought those and put em on 35’s.

    DO ITTT.

If you want the lift to run 37s...............Go for it...I'm running 34.5" with my 295s. It is what it is. I going up to 305s STT Pros when my Coopers wear out. Better ratio...

I just put new 305s on. It's gonna be quite a while before I go to 37s and I wouldn't do it w/o re-gearing first. Now, I'm wondering where we ever got the idea to run the 295s cause the 305s fit great.

For years most trucks came only with 15". For years. Was easy to get 30" tires. Times change such as much larger calipers which calls for larger rims= more rubber=more clearance required= more $$$ for lift= broke

I need a CMC to run 305s. They might slightly clear but I prefer a lot of wheel well space too for these old mining roads here in CO. 295s seem to be a great fit for my OME lift.

I had to do the BMC for the 295s 'cause I like a lot of caster. I've got around 4.5* right now which, for me, is perfect. I think I'd need to chop it again if I went to 37s.

@LOTSOFTOYS did a great job aligning my Tunny when he installed my OME coilovers. Close to factory but need the SPCs to get best alignment. I'm still upgrading to SPC's but doing the full RCI skids first.

I've misplaced my Relentless chop plates in my storage unit. That's kind of a hold up. They are in there somewhere in a box with my beefy Wheelers Off Road tree saver strap..:homer:

I’d think it’s because there aren’t many tires offered in 305/70-18. I only know of one or two off the top of my head.
