How is the stereo system in the TRD pro... does it just need a subwoofer or More than that... like the outside of the TRD but the inside of the 1794.... decisions....decisions

Needs sub at a minimum, I think the new pro comes with the same JBL as 1794 now

The 1794 is most definitely a nicer truck, the TRD Pro is more capable if you go off road. It all depends what you are looking for.

The factory stereo is a POS in either one!

Pro is sr5 trim with suspension and bbs wheels. 1794 is platinum trim with nice brown leather.

It’s cheaper and easier to swap suspension bits than all the interior leather and panels to get the 1794 interior.

The seat cooler function found only in the 1794/Platinum is indispensable. It quickly cools a hot seat on a hot day, eliminating a back sweat covered shirt. So yeah, get the 1794 and change up the exterior and suspension if you want it to look and perform like a Pro.

This was exactly my issue when I was choosing mine. I love the exterior and factory stance of the Pro, but all the classy and comfy interior of the 1794. After watching countless videos I saw that even Pro owners end up upgrading suspension, wheels and tires so I went with the 1794 at the end of the day. I’ll eventually add bronze wheels, Icon stage 2 suspension. I will admit… getting rid of all the chrome on the outside is an expensive and annoying process but this truck I’m going to keep forever and it’ll pay off.

p.s the thing that truly sold me was that it was a 1794 in an Army Green, and the two colors really compliment each other.

I think for most the 1794 is the way to go with the interior. The pro is still a "factory" suspension that just limits your lift choices. I went 1794 and made significant changes to the audio, engine, lift, wheels/tires, and traction. Couple more things to do but mostly done.

Old thread, but for me interior comfort was more important than off road chops, since it was primarily to be used as a family hauler with the trailer on road trips. 1794 seats are incredible on long drives.

So I went with 1794 and did a chrome delete.

Chrome delete looks beautiful! Where did you get the grille and color matched bumper caps?! Do you mind showing the cost?

    Thank you.

I got the grille, surround (including bulge), and caps through Painted OEM Parts. Search and you'll see a thread here about them.

I ordered the radar garnish from Sparks Toyota.

Pained OEM was not cheap, but they did incredible work and were fast and thorough. If I remember correctly, it was around $1400 for parts from Painted OEM, then about $300 for the garnish. Would have been cheaper if I had selected the other grille with the round Toyota emblem as I could have reused mine and not had to buy the garnish, but the end result was worth it to me.

Thank you for all the info! I knew the grille replacement isn't cheap but it is worth it. It looks stunning now! I ordered color matched mirror caps for my Army Green 1794 yesterday for $100! Can't wait to install them.

Were the front bumper caps a pain to install? Seen some youtube videos of people trying to wrap them and it's a mess.

The bumper caps were a pain but they were manageable.

    Love your army green 1794!

I went 1794 with TRD Off-Road package instead of the PRO and feel happy with a little bit of both worlds in a way.

I went with the 1794, mostly for the same reason everyone else has been mentioning. I wanted an interior that was exactly what I wanted, and I wanted the brown leather, since I knew it was the only option in regards to the various trim packages, in the 1794.

IMO it was easier to upgrade small exterior stuff, rather than an entire interior. And if I was going to do some drivetrain upgrades, I’d rather buy from a dedicated company and get exactly what I want, rather than a ‘factory’ option.

I turned my platinum into a platinum pro. It took a little time and money but I love it. Cooled seats. Side warning. Beautiful leather. It depends what you want and how much time and money you have.

I also chose the 1794 over the pro and added the Pro suspension /grill and complete bumper from a new pro take off. The 1784 had more options and I liked the interior.
With the new 22 coming out soon I no longer will be able to upgrade mine with the new look. This mock up pic with the center all black is about all and I am not fond of the new 2022 grill personally.

If we're going to get to a point where most auto sales are done through custom orders vs dealer inventory I wonder if they'll make things more customizable. For example, let me order a 1794 with factory installed pro suspension or a pro with the cooled seats.

Seems like you can't really customize things with the current order process. If you pick package "A" it limits your color choices, you can only get accessory "Z" if you get some other full package with stuff you don't want.

I imagine the limitations probably help with production speed and quality, and making every other truck differently on the same line might be difficult. That said, being able to truly custom order would be nice.

I was having trouble deciding between the Pro or Platinum. Ultimately went Platinum and am really glad I did. I really appreciate all the extras that don't come on the Pro.

    It’s all about personal preference

I bought a Pro new - but I literally was a hair away from a used 2020 1794 with 8k @49.9 in January. I just couldnt get past the Brown exterior and a funny feeling something was up because of the price.

I like the 1794 interior - BUT the cooled seats to me are not all that. They are ok - but it’s just air moving through the seat - don’t expect to be sitting on a block of ice.

Im not a fan of chrome - but if you don’t mind it, let t is much easier to add a Pro level suspension to a 1794 than it is to make a Pro a platinum/1794 inside.

Radio wise - equally as bad. I didn’t find the JBL as horrible as some - but I upgraded with Tech12Volts and am glad I did in the end - I probably should have done the head unit too in retrospect.

It’s all about what works for you - I love the suspension on my Pro - but admit I’ll never off road it. Day to day - a platinum/1794 with a suspension upgrade is probably the “nicer” vehicle - but it’s a truck and not an Escalade - so I’m happy with what I have.

I still think they should include a cowboy hat with every 1794 or Ram Laramie they sell - It’s the least they could do when you shell out 60 grand on a truck is toss in a quality $300 hat.

That’s the difference between US and Asian makers - US give you “cafeteria” style ordering - you want to make it uniquely yours - they let you. Hell Ford used to allow custom colors if you bought 3 or 5 in the not so distant past.

Asian makers build and sell you a “one size fits most” vehicle - it’s made like this and you dealer/port add accessories. Don’t like features - buy the next level up. Don’t like that - too bad…it’s what we sell.

It’s ultimately cheaper because it’s more efficient to sell this way - Honda perfected it years ago with Accords - 3 trims - entry/popular equipment and luxury - push a few economy to dealers to post a low price to get you in the door - put luxury out to test and then sell you popular equipment when you balk at the payment.

How about the limited vs 1794. Did you consider that and what made you choose what you did? If I can ask…

I'm guessing you're not concerned about the color options? Since each trim is limited to specific ones.

I’m leaning toward the limited. Army green. Then making it a pro with lift/leveling kit. BBS TRD wheels. Exhaust Matching TRD pro grill Just don’t see the advantage to the 1794 other then the air conditioned seats!!
