    Hello TW!

I'll be moving from Taco World to here once I get my Tundra. Still pissed at the ridiculous ADM demands, which is holding me back.

I'm set on a Mesquite 4x4 Hybrid 1794. However, my local dealer has a Platinum on its way that has a lot of the options I want but it's Glacier White with a black interior. It does, however, check a lot of boxes like the air suspension, tech package, etc. They seem willing to work with me (code word for SELL AT MSRP)

What features do I lose/gain by going Platinum?

I think platinum doesn't have option for the brown leather interior, nor Trd package that has better shocks and rear locker.

If you want to get the official Trd lift kit then you don't want to get air suspension as it's not compatible.

Besides these two, platinum is similar to 1749 I believe. Just different looks..

No Trd on platinum . I was set on 1794 but heated seats for my daughter was a nice change . I love the interior more than 1794 due to the 1794 I saw had the cream interior which was not my taste . The led accent lighting in the platinum is a nice touch too

FYI hybrid has no storage under the rear seats, it's used for batteries. Just making sure you're aware

You can "build" both trucks on Toyota's web site and see the differences pretty easily.

Is it a step up from a Platinum? Not really.

Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition adds unique upgrades that are aimed to maximize comfort with a distinctive western-themed twist.
Here are some of the 2023 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition interior features

    1) American walnut wood-grain trim
    2) Laser-etched “1794 EDITION” instrument panel badge
    3) Rich Cream/Saddle Brown interior leather upholstery
    4) 1794 Edition all-weather floor mats

Thanks guys for the replies! So the 1794 is basically the wood and brown then right? (I really like it, but finding this configuration is really turning into a PITA)

Correct. And if you want a Trd off road suspension with rear locker and better shocks, then it's only available on 1794. Other than that it's same as platinum

TRD package available on 1794 as others have said. 1974 has chrome accents and the platinum has black chrome and blacked out badging. I went with the platinum and haven’t been disappointed.

The difference between all the Tundra models are pretty slim given there are 7 of them and Tundra sells only 100k annually.

My color prefs were 1A Army Green and 1B Mesquite. The Mesquites when I was looking in October were pretty much unicorns. Closest in inventory was 1k miles. Local dealers had nothing inbound in that color either. So sticking to that color maybe hard

the TRD option with it is harder to find, but they are out there…. I worked with the dealer and put a deposit down well before receiving and then talked to them often as they worked to trade their first allocation with other dealers…somehow it worked out.

I did see this funny enough on CarMax (as I look often for 911s from there cause I want their crazy warranty)…

    1794 w/ OR package…10k miles, $74k

Hard to find a long box in the southeast region, so I stuck with short. Coming from a ‘15 Taco, really looking forward to it!

Added Dealer Markup. Some may even call it a market adjustment.

Its the additional $$$ that some dealers are putting on after MSRP especially on hard to find or popular option packages.

    ADM = "Additional Dealer Markup"
    ADP = "Additional Dealer Profit"
    "Market Adjustment"

You have the MSRP on the Monroney and the additional sticker on the side that LOOKS official but it's all dealer added-crapola designed to screw you without a kiss (or dinner first!).

ALL of those = BOHICA (bend over here it comes again). I refuse to EVER pay it - I don't need it that bad. It's bad enough paying MSRP but at least THAT I can somewhat understand... since I want a unicorn it will cost.

JUST got off the phone with my dealer, he is trying to take over some other dealer's allocation of the Mesquite truck. Those things are true unicorns apparently. Had to kindly remind him that I do NOT want $1000 Nitrogen filled tires (I'll take the 78% custom blend, that will do me fine), $1000 KARR alarm (KARR is bad, that is what KITT told me), $1000 "Diamond Plate" (WTF is THAT?!?), and some other more minor dealer packs that I am not interested in. I guess I am glad he didn't offer a pinstripe or two.

The search continues... maybe I should just tone down my color choice and take black/gray/white again, but I wanted something different, especially when it's my $70k!

Try to look out of state... Idaho maybe, some dealers there are selling hybrid at msrp. Try to look via Costco - some had good experience finding one at msrp this way, out of state...

I don't think you'll be able to find hybrid at msrp in CA right now... There's just not much inventory available. If you don't want to hustle too much, and don't want to get on the list and wait half year or more then you'll have to pay over msrp.

I have an excel spreadsheet with 100+ CA dealers that I contacted when looking for my truck back in September... It got tiring at certain point to be a full time car broker, and I just paid $3k over msrp to local dealer to have my life back. Just depends on how much you value your own time and energy, and what's your opportunity cost

As far as features go, you lose nothing going with the 1794 over the platinum. Also, the 1794 does have the TRD option not available on the platinum. If the look of the vehicle is of concern, then there are a number of differences. The Platinum comes with black interior only, 1794 has choice of brown or cream. Platinum has dark gray rims, 1794 has machined finished rims. Platinum has dark chrome grille surround and color-keyed door handles and mirror caps , 1794 has chrome grill surround, chrome door handles and mirror caps. Lastly, the 1794 comes with standard floor mats, the Platinum does not.

Dealer called today, said he has allocation on a Mesquite/tan leather 1794! 4x4 hybrid with TRD OR package.

Told him I'd take it. Build date 2-15-23.

It has what I want except the HUD, the video rear view mirror, and air suspension in the rear. Oh, and no power running boards.

Do you guys think I'm missing out on those features?

He gave me the temporary VIN and said he'd call when it changes to "F" status. Cautiously optimistic.

Yes, you should most definitely get the power running boards. It's extremely convenient to use them, it will especially be loved by your family as it's hard to get into the truck.. And these boards are wide and very functional, and they hide under the truck as if it's not there.

Can't get those features (air ride, power running boards, HUD) on an OR 1794. I know, it's dumb but it's how they separate the features.

The 1794 has the video camera rear mirror so that one seems odd.

You could have the dealer add the power running boards based on what my local dealer said. If necessary it seems like it's possible to add after market air bags including bags inside your coils. Haven't checked to see if my dealer could do that or not.

Hopefully that gives you information for making choices.

Main reason why I went with Platty, want avs/hud/air bags/running boards. I barely offload where I would really need a locker.
