Lol the work of a true asshole

I got the gears for a great price, so I can’t beat myself up too bad. I wish I was capable of installing myself, but this is a case of biting off more than I could chew. So gonna leave it to the professionals

I mean, saying “I’ve regeared, I have 5.29s” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. But it is cool to say to other truck owners

haha thinking about switching it up? I just got the coils and it’s riding so much better. I would hate to ditch it now. I can’t see your truck without the bulletproof now....

Honestly, I need to see the measurements and what I’m sitting at. have you taken any measurements from like fender to ground or anything like that?

I speculate I’m at about 12-13” of lift with the coils, shims and bodylift. But I have no clue

End of the week update on the Hypertech: sitting at 11.8mpg at the moment. I have not deviated from my normal routine in anyway (drive to work, home, gym, home). I gotta say, I'm super impressed so far. Almost 3mpgs picked up. Like i said in a previous post, rpms are wayyyyy down and the truck feels good.

Towing a enclosed trailer with my sxs in it is rough on the highway. Likes to stay around 3000 rpms. Running 35.5’s I need 5.29’s in my life for sure. But gotta build xrunner motor and mod the sxs. I need to win the lottery

I’ve been running the hypertech speedo calibrator for the last 2 weeks. Just went on a 360 mile trip running stock gears and 40s. Averaged over 12mpgs (on the dash and hand calculated). I’d definitely look into that if you havent. I went from 9 to 12 just by adding the calibrator. Even in the city, I’m over 11mpg

I’m waiting for hp tuners to get released for the 2019. You can adjust for gears and tire size with that. Well I no u can for Tacoma’s. Also need it to shut my car codes off hehe

That’s why I like the hypertech, you can adjust both tire size and gear ratio!! I’ll be plugging it in and resetting to the 5.29s on Sunday. Not sure about resetting the codes though lol

Cat codes*. Hp tunes does amazing things. I have it for my xrunner. Just waiting for the tundra. You can do some many custom tunes and settings. For motor and tranny.

That’s one thing I haven’t done. I don’t have the DAP, Bully, or HP tune of any kind. Just the plug in Hypertech. I’m really curious to see how the truck does with gears. May mess around and throw a tune in later

Almost done. I believe the rear is done. There was some water in the front diff that caused minor rust. But everything that had rust is being replaced :) The rust is either from driving around in Hurricane Harvey or the time I sunk the truck to the side steps in a ditch (lessened learned)

Other than that, I’m told all is going well and as planned :woot:

Absolutely love them so far.. Actually will be changing out the diff oil soon, since I just crossed the 500mile break-in period, I haven't got on it too hard yet. But truck is much more responsive. Also getting 12-13mpg... so that in itself is a huge plus lol

After hand calculating the MPGs, we're getting over 12MPGs. Im pretty consistent 75-80 on the hwy, but if i go the speedlimit, Im over 13-13.5mpg pretty easy.

Just got around to ordering the AJT Design cup holder, shifter and AC rings. I painted mine a couple years ago, but they look like shit now lol Nice little details that will give the truck some life. Maybe I can start finally getting to the interior together.

Welp... the inevitable has occurred. Wheels bearing on the driver side are absolutely toasted. Kinda knew it would happen one day with the stance and huge wheels lol Wanted to do the install at my house, but i didn't have the tools on hand. Think the rotor will also need to be replaced, but not too bad. I kept the wheel from falling off, which was my main goal. Was pretty much held on by the lugs.

Was driving home Friday after work (on the highway about 75mph) and the truck jerked left pretty hard. Noticed it was making a metal to metal rubbing noise a couple miles from the house. By the time i got the truck to the driveway, the hub was SMOKING and so hot. I have a video, but couldn't post it here. Tried to limp it to a shop down the street Saturday, but the wheel was about to fall off, so i called it quits and left it in the street in front of the house. The actual wheel locked up and i left a sweet skid mark in the driveway

Long story short, called the wrecker (StateFarm Roadside for free) and they showed up with a flatbed. We measured the flatbed at 8' wide. The truck measured at 7'10.5" wide from outside the wheels. Winched the truck up and fit like a glove. Dropped the truck off yesterday afternoon at CTO offroad where i took the last photo. Should be back up and running this afternoon.

New Hub Assembly: $135 at O'reileys
    Tow: Free
    Labor: $95
Uber to work on Monday: $25 :bananadead:

Silver lining: the truck looked huge on the flatbed

I love the tow truck driver's work attire. Slippers, cargo shorts, and an undershirt.

On the road again! :bananadance: I do have the "Christmas Tree mod" on the dash at the moment because i think i melted the ABS sensor, but the truck ride and drives great. No problems on the way to work today.

Had to replace the Rotor, CV Axle, Wheel Hub and Break pads. It was pretty rough, but Zach at CTO Off-Road took care of me and got me out very quick. He ripped everything apart, called me and lemme know what i needed. I sourced the parts and they were on the truck in under an hour. He understands shit happens and that i daily the truck, he had no problem moving his schedule around to get me back on the road.

110% recommend CTO to all Houston Tundras!

    Rotor- $92
    CV Axle- $65
    Break Pads- $34
    Wheel Hub Assembly- $135

    Total in parts: $326
