    Hey guys, so I bought a set of cooper discoverer stt pro 295 70 18's off of e-bay from discount tire direct for 201.50 each. I got some 1" spacers to go with them. I want to raise it slightly. do you think 1 more inch on a 19 pro will be enough? or should I go 2 more?

    I’d go two. I’m running a trd non pro with icons stage three. I have it set to the max height up front and have my 295/70/18’s and I still get some rubbing when turning tight. If I could get another inch out of my truck I would.

    I don’t think more lift is going to help it from rubbing. You need to do some clearance mods.

    Most of us wish that we had an extra inch or two.... adding is okay, just can't afford to take any away

    Edit;
    I used a heat gun and some of my longer wood clamps as pressure while I was heating the inner plastic wheel well

    Personally, with Pro wheels, I’d try it with no lift. I’d do a CMC and bumper shims before adding a spacer.

    The PRO sits higher because the factory coilovers are set higher than a non pro. If you put 2 inch lift icons on a pro, it would sit the exact same as stock. Make sense?

    You cannot raise a pro 2 more inches. Thats 4 inches of lift with coilovers. Will blow up your cv’s and ride like crap.

    Chop the body mount

    The shims just give an extra 1/2 to 3/4 inch i believe. You don’t want to shim too much on top of a coilover. The scare is bottoming the shock out before the arm hits the bumpstop.

    Sounds like you could extend the bump stops the same amount of the shim

    I got that... And I haven't done this, but if your afraid of damaging the shock before hitting the bump stops... what's more important? Limiting travel or bottoming the shock? I look at everything with the question of, "What do you gain, what do you lose"?

    I guess the difference is are you lifting for looks or do you want to wheel the truck. In the dirt i would want every inch of travel possible

    Another vote for smallest lift possible and trimming to fit the bigger tires.

    The shock basically is the limiting factor. If you are shimming or using a spacer. The shocks only have so much travel. The bump stop needs to be relocated to make up for the shocks being pushed further from the upper mount. Adding a bump spacer is not going to limit shock travel if done right. When you bottom out, instead of bottoming out on the shock, you should be bottoming on the bump stop, just before the shock bottoms out. Up travel and down travel should be pretty much the same.
    F22A7635-BCF7-4DA1-8929-EB5244647A53.jpg
    This is what you could do if you don’t install bump shims when you use a spacer. Shock travel does not change, you lifted your truck with a shim which pushes down on the LCA, giving you lift. Shims aren’t giving you a suspension lift, they are giving you a lift on top of your suspension. You will be changing the geometry. But the shock is going to have the same amount of travel.
