So my father's tundra ( 07, 4.7l sr5, 120k miles) got hit with the dreaded air injection pump issues a few days ago. Took it to autozone for the diagnostics code, got p2442 (valve stuck open bank 2). The car is also in limp mode currently. I know there was a recall but we missed the mark by over 1 year, although under mileage. Looking for the most economical way to repair it as his tundra has been a pain in the ass recently and would rather not drop 2.5k. I know there's a bypass kit but my knowledge is very limited in that area.

I'd contact Toyota USA and ask for a good will repair.

My Camry hybrid battery died 3k out of warranty and they replaced it for 500 instead of 4500 (I paid labor).

    Good luck

You can also just buy the valve and change it in less than an hour. The valve isn’t that expensive even. And on the 4.7 it’s right there on top.

The thing is that the number you hear is for replacing everything. You only have to replace the bad part.
