Installed a single row 40" led light bar yesterday. Usually I'm perfectly fine with eBay quality LEDs, however this particular bar is not bright at all. I'm going to mess around with aiming it some more, but I'm overall not impressed.

Don't mind the missing bumper trim, it's currently off to be painted. I wish Toyota would have just double side taped it to the bumper instead.....

I have decided to go another route with the grill as well. Picked up one of these grills off of eBay, and am in the process of painting it body color along with the bumper trim.

Installed a Pioneer AVH-2330NEX CarPlay headunit. I should have done this when I bought my single din, but didn't want to spend the money at the time. Best Buy had a good deal on these (did I really just say BB had a good deal on something???), so I picked it up last week. After having a rental 2018 Silverado for work this past summer that had CarPlay factory, I knew I needed it eventually in my own vehicle.

Purchased a pair of Element LED Amber Cannon podlights to replace my piss-poor factory foglights!

The truck will also be going in next week to have a set of sliders made for it. I have a pretty well known armor company (JCR Offroad, they make strictly Jeep armor, but they started a sister company called Victory 4x4 a few years back that is strictly Toyota armor) less than a mile from my apartment. They'll be developing sliders for double cabs if anyone is interested.

So you’re the DC that victory is working on! Sweet! Brian contacted me about a set. Can’t wait to see what he comes up with.

Oh sweet! How'd you get hooked up with Victory? They're not very well known yet unless you're local.

Brian sent me a PM on here saying he was building a set for a 1st gen DC and seeing if I would be interested in a pre production set. His Tacoma sliders look pretty nice but I’m waiting to see what he comes up with for our longer wheelbase. I have a few requirements for sliders and he is able to meet all but one.

When is he gonna start designing?

I'm not sure, I'm dropping it off Sunday night so they can have it all week. I'll be able to pick it up on Friday.

What were your requirements? I'm assuming whatever they design will look like what they build for all other trucks. I'm going to see if he might be able to tuck them up towards the body and maybe add a kick out.

I was hoping for .188 outer tube thickness but he’s confident in .120. I also wanted full wheel to wheel coverage with minimal gaps, which they do. I wanted a kickout but they don’t incorporate them in their designs. I was also hoping for more mounting spots than their Tacoma design.

I'll see what he says when I mention a kickout, I'm a fan of that as well. Did he say they weren't doing more mounting spots than the Tacomas? I suspect he'll have to based on the long wheelbase. I know they're mocking up 3rd gen Tundra sliders this week for his personal truck, so maybe he'll figure that out with his sliders; but I guess we'll see.

I know when I stopped in and talked to him a few weeks ago he said he was going to try to make them full bolt-on; which is a HUGE bonus in my opinion.

How did you mount your light bar behind the bumper? Been meaning to add one but wasn’t sure about mounting brackets for it.

Truck looks great btw and interested to see what they come up with for sliders. Think they will do skids as well? Can’t find any options besides SkidRow.

I removed the bumper cover and drilled holes directly into the bumper reinforcement behind to bolt the light bar to, it's very simple. I'm debating moving it outwards more or removing the lower grill; unfortunately the bar doesn't put out much light.

I'm not really sure about skids, I think there may be plans for bumpers and a bed rack though.

He didn’t know how many mounting spots he could come up with until he got your truck to map it out. It’s gotta have at least 5, imo, with the length and weight of our DC’s.a kickout would be nice but not a deal breaker for me.

If you guys want to give me a list of stuff that you think would benefit first gen owners, I can mention it to him.

I like what I see so far. Is the shop going to test the sliders with a high lift to confirm they’ll hold the trucks weight?

I'm not sure, but I'm sure they are able to handle body drops. These are the same style sliders they've been building for Jeeps for 10+ years.

@trailbikerider what tire size were you running before you changed to the 255/80r17s? 265/70s? Those wild peaks look good

Yep! Same tires but in LT265/70R17 instead. The set I have now is my third set; they are a killer value in the tire market. Not to mention they look great.

Sweet! And yes you are right about the price and look of them. I want to go to 285/75r16 or 17s in eqivalent but dont want to mpg/power hit at the moment due to college haha guess I will stick with the 265/75r16 for now

I have one shitty photo for everyone tonight. Went and picked the wheels up at my local FedEx/Kinkos, and immediately went to Firestone to have them mounted. I need to go back, they mounted one of my tires wrong; on the Falkens they have a raised letter side, and they managed to mount three of them with raised letters out but one got mounted backwards.

I appreciate that! I will get some better photos hopefully tomorrow showcasing the wheels and the new Victory sliders. It needs a bath too, but we are forecasted to get anywhere from 3-6" of snow this weekend, so what's the point.
