Anybody have a good story to share?

Put my deposit down on a limited CM 12/17/21. Got an allocation 3/13. Three days after that some a-hole cut the cat off my 2010 DC. Been waiting almost four months for parts. The 2022 was supposedly built on 6/3 but still don’t have it. Now it’s just a painfully slow race to see which one I get first.

    Misery loves company!

I fee your pain. I have been on the list for a GR Corolla since last fall of year. Still no clue when I’ll see a car :bananadead:

What dealer are you going through?

Toyota of Fort Worth. They’ve been good. Even gave me a fleet Corolla to drive free of charge while they wait on the new cat.

Deposit was put down on a new CM Hybrid 1794 in October or November, been so long I can't remember. I was surprised when they texted me in April and said my truck was being built early. :yay: Soooooo...truck was built on 4/29. It's been sitting in the Houston port since. I'm guessing it's been a bunch of QC holds. Nobody can tell me when I can go get it, and the dealer seems to be getting pretty pissed off at my calls. Salesperson isn't answering my texts. I was reaching out to them once a week because I live out of town and needed to know when to book plane tickets. Last I spoke to the dealer, they told me I should definitely have it by 8/31. I told them I don't know how Toyota ships a vehicle in late August that was built in April and continue to stay in business.

I've actually been looking at GMCs this week. My concern is all the QC holds. Will this truck even be reliable when I get it? Am I going to be forced into buying an extended warranty?

i'm fed up with the process. This is several firsts for me. First Tundra, First Toyota, First truck. I've wanted one since I was a boy, and the timing or finances were never right.

Honestly, I regret not just getting something else at this point but I feel like I'm so far down the rabbit hole I can't turn back now.

Sorry to hear that. Thats a long time to wait. Especially knowing it’s just sitting somewhere.

I feel your pain and am sorry. Have you called Toyota USA? I'd create a case and get them to take this up with the dealer, no the dealer has no control over the hold, they do have a responsibility to communicate with the customer.

    Good luck.

Glad they have you in something to drive for the meantime! I’ve heard of many others not being so lucky.
Granted a Corolla is no substitute for a tundra, but still.

That sucks! The truck is now a year old and 2023 models are out. It's an early model Tundra. Interest rates are have gone up considerably. You probably agreed to a price when dealers were charging way over MSRP. I don't know how hard it is to find your build of Tundra, but I would be making some phone calls to find alternatives.

Toyota just needs to close the doors for a couple years at this point.

Quality Control hold. It's a process where a newly built Tundra (or any other Toyota for that matter) gets held up to fix something before being delivered to the dealer. They can last anywhere from a few days to a few months, and even the dealer has very little ability to find out what exactly is holding the vehicle up.

At a bare minimum there should be quite a few jobs lost over this debacle and continued terrible service.

Not sure if this helps you feel any better, but my 1794 hybrid was caught up in the 12/22 hold. Had a 12/12 build date. Sales guy called today and said it looked like it was coming next week now. Was originally supposed to be this week

Just curious what you found out about your truck. I'm in the same boat. I placed my deposit November 6. My truck was supposed to be at the dealership last Thursday and then the salesman called and said that there is a quality control hold and the new estimated arrival date is February 10. It's all very frustrating. I just want to get my truck.

We let a deposit for a Lunar Rock Limited Crewmax TRD in April. Checked back with the dealership each month and our position in the waitlist seemed to be getting worse. When we ordered, we were told that there were 10 people ahead of us. 2 months in, we called to get an update and were told that we were 92nd?? Then over the next few months we expanded our search to include more dealerships.

One day in early September, I was looking at the Craigslists ads and came across a Black Crewmax Limited TRD L that was apparently on its way for mid September. We contacted that dealer and put a deposit on it as well. We were not given a VIN but the dealer showed us the allocation on his internal screen. The truck did come in as they promised and we were able to get it without getting hosed on the prices. This one was about $300 bucks more for the extended bed.

So we got a black one instead of the lunar rock and an extra foot of bed. Otherwise the same as what we wanted. The black has grown on us and we are liking it!

It may be that you need to expand your search area and be a bit more open to a different configuration. Waiting for a particular color and trim to arrive at your dealer may never happen.

Maybe a dumb question, but this is my first time "ordering" a vehicle in this type of climate.

If I have the VIN for my allocation, can I assume that's good and it should be built soon?

If you have a temp VIN (any letters in the list 5 characters I believe), then the vehicle has not been built yet. If you have a permanent VIN, (all numbers in the last 5) then it's been built and is either in the process, freight, or delivery stage.

I'm new to this too. I also have the VIN for my truck (the one on which I made a deposit). The salesman assures me that the truck is mine and "has my name on it," whatever that means. I've also received e-mails from SiriusXM with "Congrats, your trial has been activated in your Toyota Tundra" and I even have an e-mail from the dealership itself with "Congratulations on your new Toyota" in the subject line. The dealership also sent me a survey to rate my experience with the dealer, yet I STILL do not have my truck. I plan to call them on Tuesday to see if there are any updates to the situation. Maybe I should just go ahead and complete the survey now, but if I do they will not like my answers at all. It is all entirely frustrating.

Your truck is likely stuck in the same 12/22 QC Hold as the rest of us in this thread. Find the Track Your Tundra thread and post your VIN there, and one of the kind folks on this board will track it for you and post a screen shot of its current status. Your sales rep should do this for you, but most of them won't other than to tell you they have no idea when it'll arrive.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
Um that does not seem right.
I would contact your salesperson tomorrow. I received my survey a week after I received my Tundra and trial XM should go out once you activate while you are sitting in your truck with the salesperson. You actually sit in the truck and get a tutorial from your salesperson.
If your salesperson have your information out sooner it’s a clerical issue on the dealers end.

My Tundra was purchased and picked up on 8/11 and all my trials that expire are based off that date.
